I ordered this mat to go under my office chair on a hardwood floor. I understand the challenge in a product like this is to have something with durability to withstand chair use and also stay on a hard floor in the same place, and I really wanted to love this mat. The mat came rolled up so for a few days I put it under a heavy carpet to flatten it out, especially the rolled up ends. One side of the ComfyPad has a pebbled finish, the other side is gloss. From the pictures in the product description I put the gloss side down. Stepping anywhere on the mat or pushing the chair caused the mat to slip across the floor. I could not sit down without the mat shifting position and sliding around. So I had to anchor the mat under a couple of the desk legs to keep it from moving which was not optimal. Once anchored the mat does stop spills and would protect the floor from chair wheel wear when the mat remains stationary. Read more

This is a decent chair may. Especially for rolling chairs it seems that it will protect your hardwood floors. With that being said, it moves around a lot. I would suggest that you either use double sided tape that you do not think will wreck your hardwood floors or get those sticky carpet thingies that stick to usually one side of a small carpet and then to the floor, as then you can put this in place where it will not slip around and slide around. It should really come with something to hold it in place safely - for you and your wooden floors. Now you can use this on the floor, of course, but you can also use this anywhere you need something covered with an almost clear plastic cover. It is not really clear. It’s more cloudy but again if you need something covered to prevent scratches and dings - like a small table or metal cabinet - you can probably cut this to suit your needs. Read more
