This is a very simple, budget Omron blood pressure monitor — nothing fancy, but it gets the job done really well. It’s quick, accurate, and easy to use. I tested it side by side with another monitor (the Good Neighbor Pharmacy one you see in the photo). The readings were almost identical every time — actually, Omron’s numbers were much closer to what my doctor’s calibrated unit showed at the clinic. The only difference I noticed is that Omron usually shows slightly higher diastolic pressure, but not by much. What surprised me is that Omron works a bit faster. It starts inflating about five seconds earlier and finishes a few seconds sooner too — the whole process takes maybe 10–15 seconds less than with the other one. That might sound small, but when you’re measuring often, it’s nice not to wait. There’s no memory, no backlight, no extra features, and it doesn’t even come with a soft carrying case — just a cardboard box. But for the price, this little Omron is solid, accurate, and really convenient to use. If you want fancy features, go for a higher model. If you just want a reliable and fast basic monitor, this one’s perfect. Read more

This is great little monitor, it works quickly and is easy to turn on. Very light weight and easy to read. The only thing is it's hard to get the cuff set right so I'm never sure if the reading is accurate or not. Works on batteries which is great for portability Read more

Great item, however it does not keep a log of past blood pressures. That that’s the only reason I did not give it a five star. I get around that by just snapping a picture of the reading so I can put it in my blood pressure log later on so this has been perfectly satisfactory for me. It is a high-quality piece of medical equipment and so worth it. If you suspect or know that you have high blood pressure, you should get it right away and start monitoring your blood pressure. This has been an invaluable tool and helping me manage my salt intake and activity to help. Bring my blood pressure down. Read more

I was disappointed to find there was no power supply when I opened the box containing my new Omron Blood Pressure Monitor. Everything else was there but no power supply. Make no mistake, my rating for the product's ability to accurately measure blood pressure is 5 stars. Unworthy of the good Omron name though, is the disingenuous way they avoid telling the potential buyer that there is no power cord. The indirect way of communicating this in their Amazon product description, was to tell a partial truth by saying, "4 AA batteries required (batteries not included)." rather than telling the whole truth, which was that although the unit has the standard jack to accept household power, that if you want to plug this thing into a wall outlet, you'll have to make a separate purchase. The whole truth would have read something like "120 V AC power plug sold separately". At worst this is petty dishonesty and at best this is tone deaf. I think it is the latter. I will explain why. This may have changed since my last contact with Omron Customer Support which was a couple of years ago but in view of the absent power cord, I doubt it. I found Omron's support department to consist of people who were polite and professional but who had had no clinically informed training. When told them that my readings with their Omron monitor were running higher than my readings in the doctor's office, Customer Support gave standard instructions for taking accurate blood pressures which were of no help. Finally, I returned the device for Omron's inspection, at my expense. I received a reply that Omron was "happy" to report that there were no defects, when, from my, the customer's standpoint, there was nothing to be happy about when I was stuck with an inaccurate machine. This is yet another part of what I mean by saying that they seem tone deaf or lacking in communication and people skills. I shared this disappointing experience with my new Omron monitor with my doctor who said the blood pressure cuffs had to be broken in and that it would become more accurate after the initial stiffness was worked out of it. For many years, after the initial break-in of the cuff, I successfully validated my Omron against the medical office monitor. Omron could have saved a lot of time and expense on their part and mine by telling me what my doctor already knew. This clumsy telling of a partial truth instead of the whole truth, that no power cord was included, reminded me of my last experiences with the people selling and supporting this product. This blood pressure monitor works just fine with the power cord that came with my older Omron machine. However, nowadays, you have to pay extra for what used to be standard. Perhaps this is their brand of "shrinkflation", which as I said at the outset of this review, is unworthy of the good Omron name and the respect that it deserves as an excellent product. Read more
