I have to say, it took me weeks before I was brave enough to try these. The reason? They are HUGE. And yes, I know fish oil supplements are generally large but these are fat and the real barrier to entry for me was that given how filled to the gills they are (a little fish humor for ya) and that they have some kind of hard coating on them, they are pretty stiff, not as squishy as other fish oil pills. Every time I contemplated taking one, I literally panicked that I would choke on them—and this is coming from someone who takes a ton of supplements and usually throws back 4 pills at a time. But these were really intimidating. I finally decided to throw caution to the wind today and take one, figuring my husband was near enough by that he could perform the Heimlich if needed. And my fears were unwarranted as it went down fine. That said, these pills are fishy smelling and tasting. But that’s to be expected so I don’t deduct points for that, just something to note for the people who absolutely can’t tolerate a fishy taste/smell. You get 120 soft gels and the directions say to take 1-2 a day. These are made in the USA and 3rd party tested and the brand appears to be reputable. There’s no expiration date on the jar I received by there is a manufacturing date of 07/2025. Be aware that the coating does contain fillers. Overall, I think these are a really good omega-3 supplement. However, if you are someone who can’t swallow big pills or are easily intimidated by then, I would look for a different brand. Otherwise, besides the fact that these are pricey at $52 for a 2-4 month supply, I think these are a good bet. Read more
I love fish, and that has been my main source of omega 3's for a couple decades now once I decided I didn't hate fish(long story!) But fish can be very expensive, so it has been an irregular menu item in my fridge and freezer. I haven't noticed a difference in any cognitive functions, but my work has been trying to uh do bad things to us so my sleep schedule on my any nights in a row is around 2.5 hours or less. I got 2 hrs and 51 minutes last night according to my health tracker! So cognitively, I'm already in the tank. So maybe this has helped as I made it home from a normal 2 hr drive from work, in winter conditions, and a check engine light that came on during day 3 of being away. The pills are quite large, but easy to swallow. Texture is quite different from anything I've had prior, and it is quite colorful. Not planning on biting into them, so with just the swallow they are tasteless. Priced high, but I haven't bought omega 3 supplements in close to a decade so I have nothing to compare it to. Read more
I’ve been looking for a fish oil with an EPA to DHA ratio of about 1.5:1, since that’s considered a good, well-balanced ratio. When I saw this one matched that, I decided to give it a try. I’ve been taking it for a little over a week now, and it’s been very easy to use. The serving size is two softgels, and I haven’t had any stomach issues. Pros: Quality formula: This uses the rTG (re-esterified triglyceride) form, which is higher quality and better absorbed than the cheaper ethyl ester (EE) fish oils you see in a lot of mass-market brands. Clear EPA/DHA amounts: The label clearly shows EPA (720 mg) and DHA (480 mg), which gives a solid 1.5:1 ratio. This is generally what many researchers and athletes aim for. No fishy aftertaste: No burps, no lingering fish taste. Cons: No IFOS certification: IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards) is considered the gold standard for fish oil testing. This product doesn’t have the IFOS 5-star seal, which would normally show public results for heavy metals and freshness. No easy access to lab results: The bottle does have a batch number, but I couldn’t find a Certificate of Analysis for it. A lot of higher-end brands now include a QR code or link that takes you directly to lab results for that specific batch. This one doesn’t. Transparency issue: Without a public COA, the “third-party tested” claim is basically something you have to take on trust. There’s no way for consumers to check mercury, lead, or oxidation levels. Because of that lack of transparency, I’m taking one star off. Overall, the formula looks solid, but better access to testing results would really improve confidence in the product. Read more

Opti + rTG Omega-3 Supplements come in a tub with 120 soft gel capsules in it. The bottle recommends 2 capsules as a dose, so one tub is 2 months worth. The tub is safety sealed and stamped on the bottom with the lot# and manufacturing date. I don’t see an expiration date. Each 2 capsule dose contains 20 calories, 2.5 g of fat, 10 mg of cholesterol, 2.5 g of fish oil as triglycerides, 750 mg EPA-TG and 480 mg of DHA-TG. Other ingredients include: gelatin, glycerine, purified water, and coating ingredients (polyacrylic resin, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, triethyl citrate.) These do contain “small fish” so these aren’t vegetarian or vegan friendly. But, there’s no tree nuts, no dairy, no artificial preservatives, no artificial flavors or colors, no gluten, and they are non-gmo. In addition, the container is BFA free. The container says that these are third party tested and made in a TGA register facility in the US. It also says that these are not for children. I like that the soft gels are not sticky and are not stuck together. They are similar in size to other fish oil supplements I’ve taken. I don’t notice any smell or taste to these. These seem to be a high quality product and I’m impressed with them. Read more
