Nothing fancy here. Its an Oreck upright vacuum cleaner built to last. We have had an Oreck upright vacuum cleaner still going strong after 15 years. Using the old one in a guest house after the fancy Dirt Devil died and needed another for the main house. It works great on our stained concrete floors and area rugs. Easy to maneuver and light weight to carry around. Gets in, under and around the furniture with ease. Almost moves itself forward with the roller brush action. Nice long cord and very powerful - sucks up dirt, dog hair, cat hair and even the grand babies crumbles with ease. Get the best tool you can afford and for an upright vacuum that's an Oreck. Highly recommended over the fancier brands that are 2-3X the price of an Oreck. Read more

The vacuum was as described. Was a great price and works great. Cord is long enough to get from room to room and does not get tangled up. Powerful suction, good maneuverability, light weight and easy to use. Read more

This Oreck is as good as, if not better than the Oreck model I purchased about a dozen years ago. That thing ran like a charm and did a great job, until the housing broke on a corner, from being rammed into too many things too many times. I bought this model because it is so much like the one I had, is commercial grade, and because I found it at such a low price! When I received it I tried it right away. My wife's"gold standard" for evaluating this Oreck is an old Kenmore "dead pig on a rope" cannister model that she loves. The beater bar attachment for that does a fairly impressive job of lifting and refreshing the pile of our carpet. I'm happy to say that this new Oreck does as well or better at that task. My wife volunteered the comment that it did do a good job in our deepest pile carpet, and yesterday she said she thought this Oreck is lighter weight than the previous one. She's been using this new Oreck as the go-to machine. Now she only uses the old cannister vacuum when she needs to vacuum furniture, etc. I look forward to using this Oreck commercial model for years to come, just as I did with the first Oreck, maybe longer. I like everything about it. It would have been nice to have a light on this model, but I knew it didn't, so that's okay. Read more

I'm going to start out by mentioning that I purchased this cleaner for the purpose of vacuuming office buildings. As you probably know, office buildings are carpeted with ultra-low pile carpet. Many vacuum cleaners just don't do a good job of cleaning this type of carpet. The Oreck was originally invented to clean this exact type of carpet. So, does it clean my office building? Yes. Very well. The edge clean (where the base molding meets the carpet) is decent, and the suction power is great. It is plenty good at pulling pine-needles out of the carpet. The length of the cord is great, because it lets me clean more efficiently since I don't need to be constantly plugging and replugging it in. Also, it's light as heck. So, why not 5 stars? 1. It is light. So light, that it is always tipping over. You look at it the wrong way, and it will fall over. I expect that it will eventually die from this. 2. No on-board tools. I knew this going in, and I have a backpack vac for if I need something with a hose, but a hose would be nice for those quick small jobs. 3. It SUCKS on hard floors. I know, it's an upright, and uprights aren't designed for hard floors, but I have had uprights that at least pretended to be able to work on hard floors. 4. No height adjustment - This is not a problem for me, but for a residential buyer, it is important to remember that this is a commercial vac. It is not designed to work on high-pile carpet. Will it? Possibly, but it will probably suck down so hard that you have to man-handle it around. Also, keep it away from anything loose. It will eat area rugs due to the strong suction. Now, you may be thinking, "That's a lot of negatives for a 4 star review..." and generally, I would agree with you. However, I'm guessing that a large number of buyers here are considering a commercial machine because "commercial is better made than home use" and it is, but if you get it to use in your house, you will probably be disappointed. For commercial use though, it's great. Read more
