I am in my late 40's and a dedicated coffee drinker so I am always looking for new ways to keep my teeth clean and white. I like charcoal toothpastes, but have had a hard time finding a brand I actually liked. This is my first time using a powder charcoal and it is certainly a different experience. I am not sure if it really whitens the teeth . . . it feels a bit more like I am used to seeing the black teeth and then the teeth look whiter when it's rinsed off . . . but time will tell. I am also not a huge fan of dipping the brush in and possibly contaminating the powder. The plus to toothpaste versions is that they don't actually taste like charcoal . . . this does. I also find it more effective in that the charcoal toothpastes often leave plaque on my teeth . . . this is certainly grittier and seems to do a good job of getting my teeth smooth and clean. My dentist assured me that the grit would not hurt the enamel of my teeth . . . that it is stronger than charcoal . . . but it feels odd just the same. Read more

This is a course grind but very effective for cleaning, eliminating stains and leaving teeth feeling smooth. I did not have any gum irritation from using it. The only ingredient is activated charcoal so there are no questionable ingredients to worry about. I brush my gums with a very soft manual brush and essential oils before using the electric brush with the charcoal. I love this product. Read more

Absolutely horrible! It's stated to be a powder but it's not. It's like trying to brush your teeth with fine sand! It's extremely gritty and extremely hard to remove the black residue from your lips, mouth, tongue and teeth once finished brushing. It takes a lot of rinsing and spitting with uncontrollable black splatter everywhere all over the sink, faucet and even countertop at times. I tried it several times hoping that discovering the right technique, etc. might improve the process but no luck. The only thing ok about is the taste is fine. I so wanted this to work because Charcoal is excellent at easily detoxifying all the bad bacteria in your mouth, and this brand was much more reasonably priced for a significant larger quantity than my regular Charcoal powder I have been using. Except for some minor splatter upon rinsing, my regular Charcoal powder has none of the drawbacks of this brand. I'll stick with my brand. Read more
