I still had the box from the worn brace my orthopedist prescribed so I knew the brand name, model number, and size that worked for my wrist pain. Imagine my surprise to find the Ossur Formfit Wrist Brace available here without a prescription and at a fraction of the price! I could skip the annoying insurance pre-approval process for durable medical equipment and pay far less than my co-pay for a replacement! This brace is easy to adjust with velcro closures. It is not meant to be tight; in fact, I was warned by the technician who fitted my original brace to take care not to overtighten it. It is meant to hold one's wrist at the proper angle to eliminate wrist pain and tingling in the fingers. Once I fitted it properly, I could easily sleep through the night in it for less discomfort the following day. I was told not to wear it during the day. The brace cleans up easily with mild liquid detergent and air dries quickly. But if not worn for daytime activities, it requires very few cleanings. My original brace eventually wore through the fabric covering at the edges of the supports but it lasted about 3 years so it is a very durable piece of non-invasive equipment. I bought the brace for my girlfriend, she was wearing one from the orthopedist, it was too big. I ordered the small one and she absolutely loved, it wasn't as bulky as the large one. I ordered a small brace and I have to snug it down all the way in order for it to comfortably immobilize my wrist which leaves several large straps flapping around because the velcro closure isn't long enough on the brace itself. I have very thin arms and wrists to begin with so I can't entirely fault the product but it would be nice if the velcro fasteners on the brace itself were longer so I didn't have to deal with the flapping straps. I don't want to cut the straps until I'm certain this is going to be durable enough to keep long term. I can't speak to the durability of the brace since I've only had it one night but it was comfortable, I didn't end up sweaty, and when I woke up in the morning my wrist pain was a lot less than it has been. This looks and feels just like the one I got from my orthopedic doctor, but way more affordable. I have carpal tunnel, and this is the only type of brace that doesn’t hurt or make my fingers go numb. I finally wore out my old one and tried a softer version from Target, but it didn’t help and actually made things worse. I was really happy to find this on Amazon afterward. Read more
