I shopped around for phone cases because I threw away that wallet case I had because it was getting on my nerves every time I had to take it off Because my phone wouldn’t fit in the phone mount that I have in my car with it on, AND the only reason I bought it was to go to an exhibit that didn’t allow us to take in our purses so I wanted some thing to hold my cards in my phone that way I wasn’t carrying around a bunch of stuff. ANYWHO, a few days before I bought this OtterBox phone case after buying a very very cheap one for two dollars and some change, it arrived and upon opening found I had ordered the wrong size phone case 😅 I used to have an OtterBox and i love their cases but have been sacrificing because they can be kind of expensive… So I’m just glad I found this one for this great price. THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE ~WISH WAY NOW~ SYMMETRY CASE I really like this case. I've had an Otterbox Commuter on every phone I've owned, and they have always held up through every heart-shattering thump and tumble. But they've all been black cases, black phones, so this time around I had my heart set on the white phone with the sparkly clear case, even though I was concerned with the safety of the symmetry cases. Happy when the phone came in, sad when I realized from other reviews the clear yellows so bad. Then I found this one, and thought it would be a good substitute. It was! I absolutely love this case. It is a beautiful trio of colors that is semi-transparent. You can almost see the apple logo underneath it in certain lighting. The sparkles and gold dots are on a higher level than the phone sits so the gold dots actually casts a shadow onto the phone, giving it an amazing sense of depth. The sparkles carry around to the sides and are matched in the button covers, and the non-sparkly pink part has a pearlescent shine, giving it an all over cohesive look to it. It really is gorgeous! I've had it on my phone a solid two weeks and have yet to see any sign of yellowing at all, though I suspect that it would be hard to tell if it was. Another good thing about the busy feel of the design is that scratches are hardly noticeable. I have to look at a certain angle using a light source to tell that there is any scratches. I can't comment on the actual durability regarding scratches since my phone is so new it's still in the treat it like a baby phase, but it seems like scratches are just going to happen. Even as a baby, it's acquired a few light ones. At least this case won't show it too much. The fit of this case is really nice too. One thing that bothered me about the Commuter cases was the flappiness of the silicone layer around the screen. I would play with mine, but my husband who had the same phone and same case, would not. We both ended up with flappy silicone. This Symmetry does not seem to have that problem. It feels very snug all the way around. Cutouts are perfectly lined up, and the buttons work perfectly with a pleasant click feeling. All around nice performance. One thing I do not like is the slipperiness of this case. The back panel is a very smooth pane that offers absolutely no resistance whatsoever. In fact, it has somewhat of a slight weird greasy feel to it, not enough to be like 'ew gross' but enough to make you want to wipe your phone down. The smoothness of the back pane does collect finger streaks that is very visible but only from certain angles and lighting, similar as the scratches I was referring to earlier. It either bothers you or it doesn't, but offers nothing in the way of grip. The side and top areas have a teeeeeeny bit more grip than the back but still doesn't really offer much. The name Otterbox is recessed on one side and helps very minimally. You can forget about balancing this case on its side against something. Not only with the side slide down, but the back will slide off what you've leaned it on. I have real concerns about my phone hitting the ground because I rocketed it out of my back pocket without a good grip on it. Other than the slickness of it, there isn't anything that stands out about the feel of the case in hand. It's almost like it's just there, not as an extension of the phone, but feels natural as if it is the phone itself. Another thing I did not like was actually trying to fit my phone in the case. It was pretty scary having to smash it in several different places to work it in there. I almost gave up at one point because I was worried about damaging my phone. A little bit more of sliding, smushing, and very gentle coaxing and it just kinda popped in! There was no stress fracture on the case or signs of damage from inserting my phone, but I can totally see how that could happen in some of the other reviews. And to be honest, I do have some serious concerns about how I am going to get this thing off. I don't see this case being used in of a set of cases you can pop off and on depending on which case you're feeling that day. It'll probably have to be destroyed in some way to remove it. I imagine this is true of the whole symmetry line, not just this specific case. For now, it's a good thing I love this case, cause I'm probably going to have rock it the entire lifetime of this phone. Overall, for the price at the time of purchase (a little cheaper than full Otterbox pricing), I feel like I got a good quality case with more positives than negatives. I do recommend this case if: You get a case and stick with it. Want a sparkly alternative to the clear. You are tough on your phone and tend to scratch your cases. I do NOT recommend this case if: You like to swap cases to match your outfit. You have bad luck fitting things into tight spaces, or are heavy handed in this task. You don't like pinks and purple. I can’t count the number of times I’ve dropped my iPhone. I wore out the first cover and liked it so much I bought one identical to the first Otterbox I had.
