Well-constructed and excellent non-stick performing frying pan
The Oxo Good Grips Pro frying pans are the top non-stick frying pan recommendation from America’s Test Kitchen, and rightfully so. The pans are surprisingly light but very robust, well balanced, and the non-stick surface performance is excellent. The pans heat up quickly and evenly with no hot spots. The handle is stainless steel and very sturdy. Because stainless steel is a poor heat conductor, the handle stays cool and you do not need pot holders or a silicone handle cover to grab it. I purchased the 10” and 8” versions of the pan. These frying pans do a great job of cooking anything and everything. Especially breakfast eggs and potatoes which are the main reason I needed them. I am treating the new pans with kid gloves, making sure to only use non-stick coating safe utensils (wood or silicone). As well as thoroughly cleaning, and drying them after each use. Make sure to not use dish washing liquid that contains bleach or citrus additives as these will break down the non-stick coating. I am hoping to get many years of “non-stick” use out of these pans. I needed a lid for the 10” Oxo Good Grips Pro frying pan to cook breakfast eggs. Previously I had used a general-purpose lid with the 1.5" to 2.0" silicone edge. Although that worked, the silicone edge tended to accumulate grease from the oil/butter used to cook the eggs and was difficult to keep clean. And so I was looking to obtain a new lid. Luckily the B08X6VQ6QS 10" Ozeri Tempered Glass Fry Pan Lid (part number GL3-26) perfectly fits the 10" Oxo Good Grips Pro frying pan. I measured the diameter of the Oxo 10" pan at exactly 10.75". The Ozeri lid is specified to be 10.7" in diameter. This results in this lid being a perfect fit for the 10" Oxo Good Grips Pro frying pan. The attached photos show what a great fit this lid is for the 10” Oxo Good Grips Pro frying pan. The silicone rim on the Ozeri lid is much smaller (only 0.5") than on the general-purpose lids (1.5" to 2.0"), and so I am hoping it will be easier to keep it grease free. One minor issue with this Ozeri lid is that the steam vents are on the side edges and not on top. This results in the lid getting “fogged” up a little bit more than those with the steam vent on the top. Hence visibility into the pan while cooking is a little bit less, but that is not a big deal since you can still generally see inside there. I did not purchase the B08X6CKMS8 8” Ozeri Tempered Glass Fry Pan Lid (part number GL3-20) but it is specified at 8.3” diameter. I have measured the 8” Oxo Good Grips Pro frying pan diameter at 8.3”, and so this lid should fit well. Note: the Ozeri lids are delivered with the knob put in backwards. This is done on purpose to create a lower profile lid for easier shipping. They even included a note saying as much, and that all you need to do is unscrew the knob as shipped and re-install it in the correct position. See attached photo. Read more
