Filter fits into existing housing and does a good job filtering lake water. Read more
Great Filtering Capabilities
Does what you want a filter to do - filter. The 5 micron rating means it pulls junk out of our city water supply in surprising amounts. Filter went from pure white when installed to a slightly rust color in two weeks and is now a brown tint from top to bottom. Was installed on the hot water feed line to our AprilAire whole house humidifier after we clogged a water solenoid in a new unit less than two years old. Never imagined so much gunk was flowing through our pipes. Read more
Pentek P5-478 water filter
Great filter for sediments. This keeps my water filter from being clogged with sediment/sand/silt. The filters I received were made in China. We have an Aquasana under counter system that was clogged after a few weeks. This Pentek filter was the same as sold by Aqusana BUT a lot cheaper. Aqusana makes their own purifying filter (USA) cartridges but not the sedimentary filters. I change this filter when I change the Aqusana filter. For you that will depend on use, how many people use the water. Very Good product. Read more

Label says causes CANCER and REPRODUCTIVE HARM??!!!
The media could not be loaded. I just received this filter today and upon opening the package discover a sticker on the filter's packaging that reads verbatim: " Warning: Cancer and Reproductive Harm ". This is very concerning being that this filter's intended use is for use with drinking water. If going to be used for water intended for human consumption, how could it be manufactured to contain chemicals that cause cancer and reproductive harm. I can't in good conscious purposely put these types of chemicals into my family member's bodies and or into the bodies of unsuspecting/ unknowing guests. How can this even be possible and or legal to manufacture if it's putting known chemicals that cause cancer and reproductive harm into the consumers body? I find this alarming and will be looking into it further. I suppose using the filter for water NOT intended for human and or pet/ animal consumption remains a plausible use. Read more
