I've had a similar travel mount in the past that clipped onto my old phone and was easily pocketable for travel. This design has worked great for traveling, allowing me to clip onto the seatback tray on planes, whether the tray is up or down. It makes watching media far more comfortable than holding the phone, or hoping a wobly kickstand won't fall over in turbulence. Unfortunately I've misplaced my old one and went searching for a new travel mount of a similar design. This device fits that bill, and then some. The MagSafe mount (this is my first phone/case supporting it) is a welcome upgrade to the old squeeze clips with the magnet holding my device securely. That makes this new travel mount more convenient than my old solution, while still gripping the phone with confidence. The lack of phone clip also makes it even thinner and more pocketable than my old travel mount. I've been testing this out at home, clipped onto the edge of my desk, where it is proving surprisingly useful for keeping my phone at a convenient position. Rotating my Flip phone sideways on the mount, I was initially skeptical that it would hold the imbalanced device (mount is on the bottom half) steady. When holding it in hand to test, a relatively light bump causes it to rotate into a more balanced upright position. Clipped onto my desk, however, it seems to be holding itself steady, even with deliberate bumps to the table. Of course, I can't say how well this will hold up to turbulence in the air until my next chance to fly with it, but I've convinced myself this is unlikely to be a significant issue. For users with a non-Flip phone, I'm sure there would be no issues at all. Note: As a bonus, the stand comes with an adhesive metal ring that can be used to attach to other devices to make them compatible with MagSafe accessories. I have not tried this ring, however, did note that it is NOT a magnet itself. That means while it will work with this travel stand, it will not hold as strongly as a true MagSafe device/case that has it's own (weak) magnets to improve alignment and strength. The manual also notes that the stand can be reversed and used with an Apple MagSafe charger. I can't speak to how it may work with that official device, but it is certainly not sized correctly to be compatible with the no-name MagSafe charger I have for my Android phone, which is just a tad larger than this stands ring. TLDR: Magsafe works great with compatible phone cases or add the ring to your gaming device case - strong magnet and adjustable. I've used this while travelling to have my phone / ipad at the ready on a desk, on the plane, and in the car. There are lots of ways to use this very versatile mount. It takes a little getting use to as the clamp isn't intuitive so make sure you practice with it a few times to get use to it. This is a great mount for any magsafe device when travelling. Honestly, I've used this at home as well while at my desk and even in the bathroom. Overall, this is a well designed mount and perfect size for travelling or keeping in your pack. Read more
