Pros and cons—May 6, 2025
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered this, but the Coolblus portable AC really surprised me—in the best way. It’s compact but powerful, and it cools my bedroom super fast, even during the hottest afternoons. Setup took me less than 10 minutes, and I didn’t need any extra tools. What I love most is how quiet it is. I’ve had other units that were loud and clunky, but this one runs smooth, even on the higher settings. I sleep with it on and barely notice the sound. The remote is super handy, and the wheels make it easy to roll from my bedroom to the living room when I need it there. It’s also way more energy efficient than my old window unit. I’ve been using it daily and my energy bill hasn’t spiked, which is a huge plus. All in all, if you’re looking for a reliable, easy-to-use, and actually effective portable air conditioner, this is a solid buy. I’d definitely recommend it to friends. Read more

Very impressive unit for a portable A/C. We needed an A/C unit that was easy to set up, operate and do the job of cooling the room. The unit arrived well-packed with all the parts. As others have mentioned set up was easy as installing the window vent hose and connecting the drainage hose. There is a quick start guide that makes this easy and everything was done in about 10-15 minutes and I had cool air blowing. For it's small size this thing really cools the room and can easily do a bedroom. I would not have any qualms about using this in my RV or to cool my work shed. Read more

Machine is working well and has filled a 5 gallon bucket but room does not feel as cool as it should. It is being used in an outside workshop/Man cave. Sound is quiet enough that I can listen to TV over it without any issues. Because the unit exhausts hot air out the tube at the back through the window. Fresh air has to be constantly pulled into the room. Since the temperature outside is humid and in the 90s, only the area immediately in front of the AC unit feels cool. The other side of the room where the other window is that had to be cracked open is definitely warmer and more humid. If using in a house where there is typically an air intake in the basement it probably wouldn’t be as much of a problem. I suspect this will be a problem with any unit that only has an air exhaust and no exterior air intake. Five stars for cooling subtract one because you need to pull in warm outside air to make it work For my application, I probably should’ve gotten a window unit. Read more

I bought this portable air conditioner as a backup to our camper AC because it is so loud. We would use the camper AC to cool down the camper and then use the portable AC at night to maintain the temperature with less noise so we could sleep. The unit arrived in good shape and we prepared it according to the directions. We ran the unit for several hours but the air conditioner did not cool the room to the set point. As a test I set the air conditioner to 61 degrees F and let it run until I could hear the compressor turn off and on as it cycled at the set point. The room temperature was 72 degrees F. I turned the air conditioner off so I could see the temperature that the air conditioner was measuring and it read 62 degrees F. It looks as though the air conditioner temperature sensor is not sensing the actual room temperature but is being artificially cooled by the air conditioner. So, it thinks it has achieved the setpoint and begins to cycle the compressor off and on to maintain that setpoint. However, the room is actually at least 10 degrees warmer and not cooling any lower. I checked the deltaT on the air conditioner and the room temperature was 72 and the air temperature at the air conditioner vent out was 52. So, the deltaT was 20 degrees which indicates that the air conditioner is cooling properly. The problem appears to be with how it is sensing the actual room temperature. I contacted the supplier via email as no phone number was available. After a week, I received a generic troubleshooting reply which told me that they had not read the details or understood the issue that the unit is not sensing the room temperature correctly and therefore stops cooling before the room is at the setpoint. It is either a flaw in that unit or a design problem. Either way, I am sending the unit back. If it is a flaw in the unit, I would consider a replacement unit. I am still waiting to hear back from the supplier as to whether it is a defect in that unit. Read more

This is my second one like this and they are very easy to install. They work great, and they cool fast. I turned it on after installing it and my room went from 77 to 67 degrees in about 1 1/2 hours. Some might say it’s kind of loud but it doesn’t matter to me. Much better to deal with the sound, no matter how loud, than to have to deal with the unforgiving heat of a brutal summer. The size is reasonably small, but somewhat heavy, about 40 pounds. The handles on each side however make it much easier to carry. Oh, here’s a tip. The instructions say you can cut the second window panel down to size if your window is too short to accommodate it. If cutting it isn’t an option, you can always cut a piece of cardboard out of the box and fit it in the gap instead, like I’ve shown in one of my photos. All in all, very satisfied with this purchase. And very relieved to have a nice, cool home again. Read more

As per instructions, I let the unit sit upright for 24 hours (actually more) before plugging it in and turning it on. It worked great the 1st day and I was a very happy camper. The 2nd day it was a little louder. Next day, louder still. I am now on my 5th day of it running and there is such an awful rattle when the compressor comes on that I have had to reach out to the seller. If they don't respond, it's going back. Oh... and it cycles on and off A LOT. On the plus side, it does blow really cold air, was easy to set up, and occupies little space. Thus, the generosity of 2 stars. UPDATE: After contacting the seller, they are sending a replacement unit. Will update this review once I have had it for a few days. NEWER UPDATE: unit is working great! Super happy with the seller and the product! Read more
