Used this portable AC unit on a weekend camping trip, placing it close to the tent's entrance to help with the afternoon heat. This air conditioner has very good cooling and the fan was relatively steady. Carrying it to and from the site felt manageable since the body was lightweight and the handle had a solid grip. I picked this up before the weather turned warm enough to need it, this year. While we have, so far, had a relatively mild climate this year in Central Texas, it's still Texas. There will be triple digit days (guaranteed). There are a couple of rooms in the house that are not adequately served by our central air unit. This is turning out to be a GREAT supplement, in that respect. The worst of these is my 'man cave' that, even with the A/C on 'blast,' tends to stay a bit overly warm. It seems exceptionally quiet, compared to most units I've ever encountered. It's lightweight and the the design incorporates an handle into the body that I find to be a very comfortable fit, in my hand. This adds to the ease of carrying. I have to say the built in light was a surprise. I don't anticipate that it will be required much, but it's nice to know it's there, should it become necessary. It's small size and economical energy consumption allows a little 3700 BTU powerhouse to really serve my needs well. While the claim is that its evaporation is such that it doesn't require draining, I'll have to experience that, to believe it. I haven't yet had to use it enough to even need to check (still early in the year). Once I need to run it longer, I'll know... I know they're becoming pretty standard, but I love the inclusion of an over-current trip switch (breaker). It's conveniently located, for my taste, too. It seems well priced, when comparing it to other models in its range, as well. While not exceptionally inexpensive, it is an excellent product, for the price. If you have a truck camper or regular size van, this is a great option as compared to a big portable that takes up way more space. Those are going to have more power, but also use more electricity. I don't think this would be powerful enough for a full sized sprinter in the desert in summer, but for warm temps or smaller setups, this will get the job done in a much smaller, more energy efficient package. It’s compact but powerful, with 4 fan levels that go from a gentle breeze to a strong, cooling flow. I love that I can adjust the temperature anywhere from 85 to 60 degrees—it should really help manage the tent’s comfort on hot days and humid nights. The built-in light is a surprisingly useful bonus. It’s bright enough to illuminate and I appreciate not having to pack an extra lantern. The unit is easy to use, and the controls are intuitive. It weighs 34lbs so might not be as lightweight as you like. Handle as well constructed and integrated so it should help in transporting. Read more
