This sling is very good post surgery. The hospital sling was a cheap joke and ended up making my shoulder hurt. It is actually the correct length for a taller person, has padding for the wrist, an easy to use adjustable strap, and best of all very nice neck padding. The arm and shoulder are not fatigued wearing it and it is easy to get on and off. Sleep is also comfortable with the thumb loop. We would recommend this sling especially if you have to wear one for more than a day. Read more
I was given a very basic sling at the hospital after recent wrist surgery. It had a huge pocket area, but was nearly impossible to adjust the length of sling without removing it, had a rough fabric strap, and closed with Velcro right by the neck which was tremendously irritating. So I went shopping at Amazon and wound up getting this sling. What's good: - The neck strap is definitely more comfortable than the one on the basic product Mueller Arm Sling, Blue, One Size I got at the hospital. - The one-handed length adjustment – when you figure out how to put it together – makes it very easy to raise or lower the sling while wearing it. I noted "when you figure out how to put it together" because as other reviewers have noted, the assembly wasn't intuitive and there were no instructions. What's not good: - the arm pouch really isn't long enough. I had wrist surgery, and the end of the pouch is right where my wrist rests. If my hand had not been a cast, it wouldn't have been safe to use this. I couldn't have used it immediately after the surgery, because my wrist was simply in a splint and wrappings. There would've been no support at all, resulting in pain at best and injury at worst. Bear in mind, I'm a somewhat tall woman; this would probably fit a child or a smaller woman fairly well. I don't believe it would fit an adult man. From what I understand, the larger version of the sling isn't a whole lot better with regards to wrist support as it just adds fabric beyond where the strap attaches, versus having a longer supported length. - The interior pockets aren't really useful. They're about the right size to put a credit card or something in them, but the complete lack of friction would make me worry that the card would slide out unnoticed. - The overall strap length is a bit too long. When I had it set at its shortest, it was just about right for me when walking around. It would be too long for a shorter person. On the plus side, when I needed to loosen it for sleep, there was plenty of length for me to get comfortable. - The wrist end of it is basically sewn together, connected by a couple of very short bits of fabric. That made it tricky to put a largish cast into the sling - The thumb loops are elastic, which sounds like a good idea until you realize that your arm will try to slide out of the sling, and this will let that happen (to an extent), then you wind up with the elastic gouging into your thumb. I usually do not write Amazon reviews but have to share feedback for the Healjoy Medical Arm Sling with Split Strap. I had right shoulder replacement about a month ago and purchased this sling for use after surgery. I have to say this is a must buy if you are getting shoulder surgery. It is comfortable on the shoulder with a breathable wide strap. It has two looped rings in the front where you can place your thumb and another finger to keep the sling forward comfortably while providing maximum support. It has allowed me to heal but also with the ability to stay mobile. I purchased this for my right shoulder but works for either side. The price is also right. This sling is better than the ones prescribed by Doctors for the surgery and the other immobilizer was basically worthless after the first 48 hours. Read more
It's comfortable. BUT a physical therapist told me it can't adjust short enough for me to really reduce strain on the shoulder. (Recovering from a rotator cuff injury). I'm about 5'6" - Probably okay for taller people. By the way, some of the people doing unboxing videos "reviews" on this listing should have read the instructions first. Ignore them. Read more
Much superior to the one it is replacing. The fabric is light and strong. I like the cushioning at the wrist, and I love the double shoulder strap. The old single strap cut into my neck and shoulder from the weight of my arm. The strap is easily adjustable with one hand. The old sling's strap was velcro and that stopped holding right away. This one has a self tightening, lift to release strap cinch, like you'd find on a good quality backpack. It works great. Read more
Sling was so much better than the sling given by the hospital when my daughter broke her arm! Much more comfortable. Straps were easy to adjust and the price was right. Glad I made the purchase and my daughter was too! Read more
Very good fit (for non-petite people), easily adjustable, and easy to put on by yourself with a little practice. The thumb straps help keep your arm stable and they prevent the arm from slipping out. The vertical adjustment strap is easy to use with your one good hand. The Velcro connector on the front which receives the vertical support strap is well designed and durable. The fabric of the sling is comfortable. I was able to use this sling easily during daytime activities, and was able to sleep with it as well. I highly recommend this sling. I will be ordering another one to put in our family med bag. Read more
