I used to have one in my humidifier and then I tossed it because it was old. I started using distilled water so it didn’t matter but am now using the humidifier more and buying distilled water is getting costly so I went back to using this. I use filtered water but it still has a lot of minerals in it. This must work because I’m having no residue. I bought the previous one once because I had a lot of the white, dusty residue. I've been using these since shortly after getting my humidifier which was probably close to 10 years ago. I need winter humidification and I have pets which can complicate the air and be hard on even "appliances." I replace this every 2 months in mine (during seasonal use) and it has eliminated any white dust and even that musty odor that can develop. Also use the aquafier sticks in the tank and replace those monthly. Read more

Have owned a H4610 for 2 years and utilized primarily in winter to add humidity during dry months. Regular weekly cleaning to reduce hard white scale buildup on bottom of tank and water line is my issue caused by hard well water. After purchasing and installing the filter, the unit has run continuous for a week. Zero white scale build up. Minimal build up on ultrasonic disc also. I will even go on a limb and say I have noticed a decrease in the amount of water unit is using. This will work and perform well on H4610 unit. This will now be an added component to my unit. I've had these humidifiers for over 10 yrs but this was my first purchase of this. Well as stated 1000 hours if ran 24/7 is just 41 days that's pricey for what it does. Put cold water in canister to help keep mold down. Adding warm will make pink stuff accumulate. Like others have said after about 30 days this thing starts smelling really fishy and they stated to not clean it. I did soak it in vinegar and it did not help the stench at all. If I have to replace this every month for $20 it seems totally not worth it. I run this in the winters in NC so for about four months. I can’t see buying $60 worth of filters for a $80 humidifier. It surprisingly works, but at what cost. And if you run distilled water, you won’t have any white dust at all, but that is super pricey. Read more

I took a chance, and this filter was the right size for my Venta sonic humidifier (the big one with the blue clear plastic tank). This is great, because the Venta filters are no longer made. Read more
