I had to get this for my Purple mattress because the Purple sheets are super thin and I noticed a distinctly dog-shaped dirty spot on my mattress where my dog sleeps at night. This protector makes a huge difference, nothing gets through to the mattress underneath, and it's not hard and crinkly like most protectors. You do lose a bit of the jell-o feeling of the Purple mattress and makes it a little warmer, but it's still super comfortable and breathable, and still keeps me nice and cool. Overall, I wish I didn't have to use it because I prefer the full feeling of the mattress itself, but I'd rather protect my investment and this is still very comfortable. It's nice and thin, which really matters when you have a "flat top" mattress that's supposed to engage you. Although it may sound counter-intuitive, thin and stretchy is best for that type of mattress (such as Purple, Ghostbed, Sapira, etc.). Too much thickness prevents the mattress from doing what the comfort layers are supposed to do. It's really stretchy, too, which allows my body to sink in the proper amount in the proper places. I would recommend it! Update, April, 2018: This mattress protector, after a year of use, is still water-resistant, but not water proof. I tested it out by pouring some water on it. After sitting several minutes, it leaked through. Hands-down the best mattress protector I've owned. I do own the Purple mattress, and love it. I had issues with it getting too warm with other protectors. Plus, the mattress really doesn't function as well with normal mattress protectors. This definitely cut down on the heat issue. Foam mattresses of all kinds seem to butt into that problem, and this mattress protector made for a much nicer night's sleep for me. It seems to help firm up the mattress just a bit, and absolutely allows for the "sink" and bounce you wanted when you bought the mattress. If you have the mattress, this really is a must. I know it's what the company says, and it seems like obvious sales tactics. And sure, if they were super-cool they'd include everything you need (protector and sheets) with the mattress and raise the price a little. But, at the end of the day, it's not just a sales tactic, you really do need the protector and the sheets. (And I hate the sheets, but you still need 'em.) I did not find any problem with this fitting the bed. It is difficult to get on the mattress, and there were two of us working on it. But once you have the elastic all the way underneath and the protector smooth on top, it stays put. I've been on it for a week, and I'm like the princess with the pea - one wrinkle and I'm tossing and turning. This is one of the softer, less "plastic" protectors I've found. It does seem loud and obnoxious while it's being applied to the mattress, but while in use under the sheets there is no slippery feeling or "crunchy" sound. Read more

The advertising says it won't make any noise when moving across it. However, it does make a little bit of that noise you get when you run your hand across a plastic type material - sort of a crinkle sound. That said, the sound is very minor when covered by the fitted sheet. For me, it is not noticeable enough where I felt I need to return it. I just want to make people aware that you will get a slight amount of that crinkly noise. The protector does seem to be pretty good quality and it fit my sleep number mattress very well. Read more

Just purchased this for new Purple Mattress - for sure wanted a good protector but I was worried about having a typical plastic cover that crinkled with ever movement. I was hesitant to pay this much for a mattress protector, but so far I’d say it’s worth it! It’s think enough and stretchy to work for tue purple mattress, and at first putting it on the bed it sounded like it would be the noisy, but once it was on with the sheets and sleeping on it, can’t tell it’s there at all! The material when you run your hand across it sounds slippy and plasticy, but it truly doesn’t make any noice sleeping on it and I definitely move around at night so I was very pleased with this and felt like it was worth the price. You really need this mattress cover to get the FULL effect of your Purple mattress. The fabric is cool, stretchy and works perfectly with the mattress. Other mattress covers tend to ruin the soft bounce back feel of the Purple bed. For 8 months we slept on our mattress with a regular quilted mattress pad and it made our bed hard and uncomfortable. It's kind of like putting the lid on your Tupperware forming a solid seal. Once we got this I was amazed at how wonderful the bed felt. I have less back pain now and that is due to not only having a great mattress, but also a great mattress cover that allows it to work as it should. Read more
