I ordered these as I needed a shorter profile bulb for a hanging lamp to reduce the field where a bare bulb might be visible. I thought these would be similar in size to a standard bulb, just shorter and fatter. They are much smaller than a standard bulb, although they do fit a normal fixture. I bought these bulbs for the basement where my tall husband routinely hits his head on the lightbulb and breaks it out of the socket. This bulb has a truly low profile. It fits the socket securely. It is a bit dimmer than a regular shaped bulb of the same wattage, and the light is a bit more directional, so it lights the space a bit less well. However, I am overall pleased with it because it serves the functional purpose of a low profile bulb. Read more
