We got these to try on our kayaks. We used a medium arm and cell phone holder on top and a long arm with a 32 oz drink holder on bottom/inside. They worked perfect! We have a 32 oz Owala water bottle in the cup holder and it fits snug. It is easy to get in and out and very sturdy. We are very happy with how these turned out. Read more

I have an iPhone 6 Plus phone with Mophie juice pack battery case. I've tried different magnetic phone mounts and flexible arm locks but nothing came close to my expectations than RAM mounts' quality, design and secure grip. The design makes the assembly intuitive and easy to setup and securely held my device regardless of the extra weight it packs due to the battery case and the terrain I'm on. I don't have to give up an AC vent, my optical disc slot nor a cup holder space just to mount this. It's pricey for a reason but you obviously are getting what you're paying for. It's made in the USA, designed to last and most of all, allows you to trasnfer this mount from car to car and from one device to another unlike magnetic mounts where your magnet retires with your phone or phone case. I would have given this a solid 5 star if it were not for the following minor design flaws that could make this a 5-stars in my book: 1. The bulk of the arm gets in the way of the rear view mirror's tab that keeps the tab from switching daytime to night time mode. I was able to workaround this by adjusting the arm a few degrees off the tab but a fraction part of the tab still gets in the way and does not allow for a smooth tab switch. 2. The tether that came with the X-Grip was meant for mounting this to bike for extra security but it would have been nice if it can also work with bulky phone cases like the Mophie juice pack. This is a minor issue to me but would have been a major one for bikers who use Mophie juice pack battery cases. All in all, I am satisfied with this product and would highly recommend this. For those who also wanted the same setup as mine where this is mounted behind the rear view mirror and your vehicle is not a GM, Chrysler, Ford or Toyota, you'll need these universal parts: RAM-B-231Z-RVMU RAM rail base with ball for rear view RAP-HOL-UN10B-201U which comes packaged with the two parts below: RAM-HOL-UN10BU RAM X-Grip universal 5" phablet with 1" ball RAP-B-201U RAM double socket arm for 1" ball Read more

Best phone or iPad you can get. They are fairly expensive, but they’ll last many times longer than the $20 ones. Plus they hold your own sturdy. Read more
The RAM mount is solid and adjustable. The X grip is handy, but tends to interfere with phone controls. Be sure to deactivate certain "emergency call" features in your phone if it does this. I would not be apt to trust the spring force and soft heads of the X grip alone with the security of my phone, so I do use the silicone retention loops to make sure it doesn't go anywhere. That part is a little bit of a fuss, but for long rides it's hardly a bother. Also it doesn't interfere with a charging cable. Read more
