Although the build quality is top notch, it's heavy, thick and feels like a baseball mitt and stiff as a board. If this is what you like in luggage, this is for you. This will out last you and your children. But for travel, it's meant to be easy to wear, and then stuck into a suitcase. At much more than a pound, it's no lightweight. As Doctors often recommend for older women that they shouldn't carry too heavy a purse due to shoulder and back troubles, this bag has a wide strap which distributes the weight more evenly on the shoulder, it seems to lighten the true weight load !!! I find it hard to imagine one better than this bag. High quality leather and zippers that work smoothly. Many well-placed and easily distinguishable pockets, allowing the user to establishment a method for locating things (when they are put in the same place)! Nicely sized; used as a "man-purse." I carry extra contacts, an old Palm Pilot, phone, wallet, pill bottle, work ID badges, pens, flashlight, eye glasses, memory stick and many other things, and have no trouble finding them when needed.
