As the warmer weather approaches, I'm looking forward to making some homemade ice cream. I used to have an expensive Cuisinart compressor ice cream maker. After a couple of years, I got rid of it. The ice cream never seemed to compare to taste and quality of ice cream made an old fashioned churn-style machine - an electric one because I'm not a complete Luddite. This is a high quality rock salt. It's just natural sea salt with no additional ingredients. It's a necessity with churning ice cream to lower the freezing point. The Sea Salt Superstore has a history of providing high quality products and this ice cream rock salt is no exception. I can't wait for a warm day to put it to good use making some yummy ice cream. This chunky rock salt looks good and is perfect for making ice cream. The salt chunks are large, easy to pour, and it's nice to have a big bag of salt. The bag is resealable. If needed to season food, I could crush the big chunks of sea salt and run them through my salt grinder. The salt is Kosher certified and there are no additives so it tastes like the kosher salt I already use. I think $19.99 is very expensive for ice cream salt. Great coarseness and quality to use in my old fashioned ice cream maker. Package is thick and well sealed. Easy to use in our machine. Great size of rock crystals. This is made to help the ice remain cold during the making process. You don’t use this in your ice cream and taste it. This should be compatible with all of the ice cream makers that use ice on the outside of them. The value isn’t the greatest for a product that will just be tossed after the ice cream is made.
