I used this to replace the old bad hard drive on my backup PC and it works well! Able to reformat it and install Windows 10 with it connected as the only hard drive. Has been going strong since I bought it and seems to be very fast accessing data but I keep the drive defragged once a month if not sooner. Was an affordable drive Read more

I have nothing but good things to say about this vendor. Shipped and arrived promptly and as promised. Product was exactly as described, lovingly packaged in antistatic bag, bubble wrapped and strong cardboard box. Easily installed and formatted with instructions I found on the web, no surprises. Works great, more than doubled my desktop storage capacity and no speed lag or OS issues. I will definitely use this vendor again when I need hard to locate parts for older computers. Shiny! I originally bought a pair of these drives in 2014 for a simple 2-drive RAID 1 array. They worked seamlessly on an almost continuous basis in that setting for about 9 years, until one died. Recently I purchased the same model of drive to replace the dead drive, it came, it's identical, the process of replacing my dead drive was a no-brainer. But, the manufacture date code on the 'new' drive corresponds with a 2015 manufacture date. These are great drives, but at 8-10 years old, it's a little hard to put a ton of trust in them as a spot to park my data. I'll use them for now, but they're an interim option at best. Read more

These are high quality drives. I have used them for years and they are reasonably priced. These drives can be partitioned easily and can be used as a primary drive or as back up drives. They don't necessarily show up on your drive list so the simplest way to install is to get the Seagate DiscWizard (free download from Seagate). It is an easy download and easy process to get your new drive up and working the way you want it. Seagate also provides excellent customer support on their site which explains exactly how to do it. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes if you are computer savvy. Read more

These appear to be refurbished drives. Ask yourself, do manufacturers still supply these Legacy Units as new unused condition? Purchased no less than three of these over past year. All three started mechanical clicking and final failure only within 3 months. I am a computer technician and know these are mechanical junk. They were treated with perfect handling and cooling, but are mechanical blunders. I advise, do not buy any refurbished drives. They are not mechanically reliable after years of usage. Refurbishing does not guarantee any quality grade of lasting value. Internal components are not designed to last indefinitely. Price is cheap, but your loss of data is prohibited. Order with rabbits foot on hand, and have your priest say a blessing. Read more

I was concerned about these drives being weird pulls or refurbs and not legit. I've seen reviews of "new" harddrives from Amazon shipped without retail packaging only to find they have tons and tons of hours on them. That's not the case with this, at least the one I purchased. I ran thorough tests on it with CrystalDisk and it's all good. Granted, I am using it in a long-term archive application where it will sit in a box probably forever, but that is good enough for me. It failed in use like all the other Hard Drives in this application, so no difference. The extended Warranty for $4.00 or so paid me back for it, so how bad is it. I purchased another one which will likely fail and the warranty will pay for that too! Hence the "It's OK". Read more
