Edit: after making the comment below, I was contacted by septekon. They provided me with TWO new cameras that did not have the issue below. I adjusted the rating back to a five, but, I am leaving the issue below, as a potential solution for anyone that may have a Mac. These cameras are great, and having good customer service is worth five stars, even if they weren’t great. 😃 Thank you Septekon! I have purchased three of these cameras. The first one was excellent, no problems. I have a MacBook, so the issue I’ve had with the second two may be incompatibility issues. Both additional cameras that I have purchased turn on, while on web conference, but seemingly shut off without a real reason. I figured out the culprit, and ended up buying a different camera. The problem, the first camera I purchased has a 500mA draw from my Mac. The second and third have a 200mA draw. There’s nothing written about this online. I was so frustrated with it that I kept problem solving until the difference became clear. I hope this long convoluted explanation makes sense to someone. I’ve been working all day, but figured I better go ahead and throw this in the comment section as a warning. If not for this issue, I would have given it a 5 star. compared several webcams, and I chose this one finally, because the brand 'Septekon" was printed on the product. comparing with other products without a logo, I believe this product is more authentic and more professional. and it really doesn't let me down. When I got the product and started to use it, the camera cannot start, then I wrote a line to them, they replied quickly, and help me out successfully - it was the driver issue on my computer. I am also very satisfied with the quality, 1080P make the picture very clear in the video meeting, which has greatly helped my work during this WFH time. I'm very glad to choose this one, love it. Great camera for the money. I would have put 5 stars but the clip on mount that is part of the camera itself is a little loose, doesn’t tighten in place and takes some finagling to get it to stay in place. It would be nice to have a standard tripod mounting point on the clip itself but nonetheless it is exactly what it says it is. With 24-32 megapixel cameras streaming 4K video at 60fps being the UHD standard now this seems antiquated with the 8 megapixel camera streaming 1080 video at 30fps. This is still Full HD and with good lighting it doesn’t look bad for under $30. I’m using it with OBS to stream live musical performances on YouTube and other platforms. With this being used in conjunction with another FHD webcam and two iPhones over a LAN this is perfect for streaming live video or uploading recorded video which most times is compressed down at 24fps and 740p. The length of the USB cable is short so if you are using it for Zoom or Skype that is not a problem but if you want freedom to position this properly get an extension. So this is a great addition to my livestream setup and the price is right to have another FHD video source! Read more

So far no issues with the Camera. The video quality is exceptional. The only quam I have with it is the mount used to secure it to my monitor. It would work fine if set onto a desk as well, but the camera has issues sitting stiff in the direction you need it to face. As far as setup on the computer, its as easy as plugging it in. I'm glad some of the other reviewers here have had a good experience with this Septekon webcam. My experience wasn't as good. First, the Septekon webcam doesn't clip on to my laptop screen very securely. If I slightly bump the laptop, it moves or falls off. Second, this webcam is advertised as being able to rotate horizontally as well as up and down. But it cannot rotate horizontally. Of course, you can turn your computer to the left or right, maybe that's what they meant? Third, the Septekon's image quality is only slightly better than the webcam built into our 2015 MacBook Air. Now, for the price, it's not bad, but so many of the reviewers here said the Septekon has excellent video image quality so my expectations were maybe a bit high, and were disappointed. Fourth, the Septekon webcam doesn't seem to work with newer computers that have USB-C inputs, using the appropriate adapter. When I ordered the Septekon, I knew it has a USB-A plug, the older style that is still very common. I hoped to be able to use it with our newer MacBook Pro, which only has USB-C ports. I have several different USB-A to USB-C adapters that work perfectly when connecting other devices - like external hard drives, printers, speakers, etc. The Septekon didn't work with our MacBook Pro. I tried several different adapters, it didn't work with any of them. The adapters are not defective. This is too bad. Most MacBooks since 2016 or so have USB-C ports, not the older USB-A ports. Many newer Windows laptops, too. The Septekon webcam works fine with the 2015 MacBook, not the newer one. That's too bad. Read more

Excellent little camera for all those Zoom/ Teams/ GoTo/ Skype meetings (tried on all these platforms). Simple plug-and-play makes it easy. Not a big fan of the way it attaches of the top edge of the monitor, as it's a hinge mechanism that butts up against the back of the monitor to hold it in place - I wonder how long the tension of the hinge will hold, as I take the camera off if not in use. For what I have bought it for (video calls), it has definitly served its purpose. The resolution is good for chatting and the 30 fps is not bad. My computer freezes up for 1-3 seconds when turning it on in the video call. I would buy this for general use, but if it is for profesional use such as live streaming or recording, I would look for a higher end option. Read more
