My tall (5'11"), thin (123 pounds) teenager needs a cover-up for a long, formal dress she will be wearing at a relative's wedding; so I ordered the SHU-SHI Dressy Metallic Poncho for Women in black/gold to see if it would work for her. The poncho arrived quickly, minimally packaged in a plastic bag and mailer, with a thoughtful card from the crafter. Upon being removed from the bag, the poncho expanded a little and appeared new and clean, without any "new-fabric" odor. The sheer cover-up, which was made of a fine mesh fabric of black and gold threads, was more like a long, airy jacket with tea-length sleeves than a poncho. The hem and cuffs had a lovely ruffled hem finish. It was elegant and delicate--a sophisticated, on-trend cover-up for a party, evening out, wedding reception or other formal event. I could also see the poncho being worn with less formal outfits to create a funky effect. And its the black and gold color combination would look good with a wide variety of colors. The only issue is that the cover-up was a bit too delicate for someone like me. (I am modeling it in the photo.) It snags easily, so the wearer must be very careful with nails or jewelry. I could not wear something like this--i snagged it just putting it on a hanger--but my laid-back daughter probably can. The poncho looked great on her, and she is looking forward to wearing it. Also, the flowing, shimmery poncho is almost weightless, so it would not provide any warmth in cold weather or sun protection in warm weather. It seems to be for decorative or modesty purposes. This evening cover-up looks great with its sparky gold threads glimmering in the lights! It adds a lot of interest to any outfit. The size is nice and long which is great for my 5’9” wife to accessorize with. The quality is good with clean stitching and tight seams. The material is soft and moves well while being worn. It is lightweight so it can be worn all night without overheating issues that some heavier sweater-style cover-ups bring. This is a very, sheer mesh metallic material that you can see through. It’s a gorgeous fabric and looks like a party fabric with the gold glitter in it. It’s actually almost like a shell type of a women’s throw over that you’d wanna wear over the top of an underneath shirt or even a jumpsuit. I love the fabric and I love the look. It’s gonna be great for the holidays. Fits my body fine as it’s one size so the hang is going to be different on everyone. And because of the gold sparkle, it’s gonna go with gold jewelry and big shiny pieces of jewelry for the holiday season which I’m really looking forward to. This black and gold sheer cardigan type of top is perfect over any holiday party type of clothing as this will dress it up just because of the gold metallic threads in the fabric. This poncho is beautiful made of a nice soft fabric that sparkles gold intertwined in black. It's lightweight and fits well however wish it ran bigger to be more flowy. I have a few of the SHU-SHI knit shrugs, both long and waist length. I definitely prefer these longer styles. I'm a size 14-16 and have an apple shape torso. I've found the longer style to be most flattering and it really does stretch. The nice thing is that once you've adjusted it to your body, it doesn't cling and look tight, it drapes nicely. This is the first one I've gotten with the metallic/shimmery fabric and I really like it. I was afraid it might look too much like tinsel, but it looks beautiful. I could wear this with a lot of different outfits. Definitely be careful of any jewelry and watches, even purses with zippers etc because they do snag. Highly recommend as a layering piece for expanding your wardrobe. They're also awesome for travel because they take up very little space and don't wrinkle!
