They really do help cancel out the sound. I don't have to listen to my partner snoring & my partner does not have to listen to the TV when trying to sleep. The only downside is on the occasions that they stay in ALL NIGHT and I end up sleeping through my alarm - that's a testament to how comfortable they are! I have tried someother brands & designs and these are the best by far. Buying again because I lost other pair while on vacation.
