Sturdy and versatile
I really like this tripod base. I have it paired with a Slik 700DX Pro 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head. It fits well along the outside of my backpack without sticking out and catching on things on hikes. It's a great, stable, and versatile base for my nature still long exposure and macro photography. Read more
Nearly perfect mini tripod
The Slik PRO 500 DXShort Tripod is well-made, sturdy, and versatile. I have a good full-size tripod and I wanted a mini tripod like the Slik for table top work and for hiking. When I looked at the options in the $30-$100 range, the Slik stood out to me as the best of the bunch and it doesn't disappoint in person. I have a decent Vanguard tripod that is about the same size, but the legs don't extend or permit setting at different angles, which is the main reason I upgraded to the Slik. For connecting the camera, I added an old Manfrotto 484RC2 ball head. This is a great combo. Read more

I already have a Slik Pro 700DX Tripod, and wanted to standardize on the easy to use Round QR Plate, so I ordered this small tripod with a Slik Ball Head.
