As a fan, sure it works. As an "air conditioner", it didn't meet my expectations. I've tried using the provided cooler packs (which are small, and have to be to fit them in the opening at the top), and I've also tried using iced water, but it did not seem to make the air any cooler. Tested it by leaving it in my vehicle for 2 hours on the fan mode, then the next day left it in my vehicle for 2 hours on the "cooling" setting. My vehicle was at the same temperature and same location both days, same outdoor weather (slightly overcast, 80⁰, semi-shade), and I could not tell a difference in temperature. So I would consider that "not air cooling". I will say it was very convenient that I could run it both days using the same battery pack, and still had a charge left on it. It is pretty quiet, so that is nice. I was hoping to use this for camping, but it does not do what I need it to, or what I bought it for. For some $30, I could get a much stronger fan that probably would actually cool the air, it would just be a matter of how to run it (portable charger, pre-charge, etc). Also- according to the manual, you should empty the water that's in the reservoir on the top of the unit by removing the plug and slowly tilting the unit forward, to empty that water out from the holding reservoir on the bottom of the unit. That tells me there should be water moving from the top reservoir to the bottom. However, there's not been any water in that bottom reservoir, and the only way I've been able to empty it from the top is by quickly and carefully dumping the unit upside down and gently tilting it back and forth to get all the water out, then sitting the unit near a fan to finish drying out. So there that is. Value for the money? It would be if it functioned as intended, which it certainly does not. The quality I will say is nice. I was impressed when I first set it up, but was disappointed when I found it was not actually cooling a very small space. I have tested this unit out 4 more times in addition to the previously mentioned 2-day comparison, and again, while it will blow air (and the remote control is convenient), this particular unit at least is not cooling the air it's blowing out. Don't know why this unit got so many high ratings. False advertising and cheaply made. Don't be fooled. Compared the cooling feature to a regular fan and although it blew slightly cooler.....not really. Read more
