This is my first Small-Rig tripod and I would need tremendous convincing to switch to another brand of tripod. It's built like a tank but light as a feather. All of the controls are intuitive, fluid, and well thought out. The team that designed this knew exactly what they were doing. Huge flex that the box didn't come with instructions because of how quickly and easily the tripod can be deployed. Using this tripod is heavenly, orgasmic, divine, whatever you want to call it. Do not pass this tripod up without a well-researched reason. Better yet, don't pass it up at all. It will handle all devices from phones to gigantic cinema cameras with ease. I use it for my LUMIX S5IIX mirrorless full-frame camera and this tripod handles the camera with graceful swagger. I just can't emphasize enough how smooth and fluid all of the controls on this tripod are. I'm completely blown away by the quality. Out of the 3 tripods I own, this Small-Rig is the best by a mile. Beyond expectations! This is so well made. A great addition to our film making studio. It IS heavy, but once it's on set we don't want it to be easily knocked over. If you want something you can pack on a hike, this probably isn't the one, but it's a workhorse for any other filming needs. Read more

I’ve purchased a few video tripods from competitors, and this one is what they are currently charging for it (as of 10102025). But the carbon fiber model is barely more expensive, save up the extra $40-70 and get the carbon fiber model instead. The aluminum legs are straight and release/retract easily. They have the 2 knobs the release the legs in stages versus the carbon models one per leg. The fluid head has a tilt release knob but no adjustable dampening. Panning was smooth. Most of the head part including catches, buttons, and knobs are plastic. Understandable at the price but causes concerns if you frequently remove the camera plate. Pros: • Stable with good aluminum legs. Cons: • A lot of plastic on the head. Read more
