Extremely robust and well thought out. I did have a non-issue issue when installing the female plug on my existing 50 amp cable. When the green and white wires lined up with their respective sockets on the plug, the black and red were reversed on my cable. However, since they are separate 120v hot wires and it matters not which one goes to which side of the breaker panel in the RV, it's irrelevant. If you find the same, just go ahead and connect the black to red and the red to black because you sure can't bend those wires into their respective sockets! Read more

I had a twist lock type connection on our previous fifth wheel, which was good at twisting but not so much at locking. I bought a set of SmartPlug 50 amp connectors for both the trailer side and the cord. I used it for a couple of years and it was totally solid. We bought a new fifth wheel last year that had the 50 amp cord on a power reel that was really weak, especially in cold weather. I decided to get another SmartPlug set and bypass the reel. Works like a champ and again, I don't have to worry about the connection coming loose. I replaced my cord with a cold weather version that doesn't get stiff so now all I have to do is roll it up and throw it in my storage bin. Read more
