Amazing: a teaspoon of this stuff in a big bowl of water, and in just a few minutes a delicate sweater comes out fresh and clean. The "Celebration" scent is pleasant. Read more

Effective No-Rinse Soap That’s Perfect for Delicates

JoteiOctober 7, 2025

I’ve used Soak Laundry Soap for a few months on delicate fabrics like wool and silk. The no-rinse formula really saves time and leaves items clean without any residue or stiffness. The scent is light and fades quickly after drying, which I prefer. A little goes a long way, so one bottle lasts a long time even with regular use. It’s more expensive than standard detergent, but the results and fabric care quality make it worth it. Read more

Best wash I've found for natural fibers

MaraApril 26, 2025

This had become an HG product for me for washing my natural fiber clothes. So easy and so gentle on silks, wool, and cashmere - plus the yuzu scent is so fresh and lovely! You only need a teaspoon per sweater, so a bottle lasts a long time too. Keep your sweaters nicer with a simple soak! Read more

FAR Exceeded my Expectations! This is like a miracle

MayryChattSeptember 5, 2025

After a little research I got this to wash the thigh high compression hosiery/torture devices I have to wear for a while. I have to wash them every day. Soak comes in many scents, but I always use scentless so that's what I got. First time, I read the directions, which said to use one gallon of water with one teaspoon (one TEASPOON? yes!) of Soak wash, then to add the things to be washed, soak for 15 minutes, and that's it. No rinse necessary. I squeezed them gently and put on a sweater dryer - clean and dry in the morning. Then I got a dog harness one of my dogs had on for a procedure at the vet. I was covered with blood when I picked her up, because they put it on her before she came to. Good idea; she's a wiggle worm. The harness had been in the laundry room basket for three weeks. I had forgotten about it. So I put a gallon of water and a teaspoon of Soak in the sink, put in the harness blood side down, 15 minutes later absolutely no sign of blood in the water or on the harness. It was like magic - highly effective - and I heartily recommend Soak! Also can be used in a washing machine. Read more

I use in my laundry machine. A bit expensive, but worth it!

HJKJuly 13, 2020

We have an inordinate amount of woolens and delicates in my home. My husband is a bit more suspicious of machine washing, but for many of my sweaters and other delicates as well as the woolens and delicates for my kids, I wash in my machine using scentless Soak. I still bring a bunch of items to the dry cleaner (such as nicer knits/woolen, formal wear, etc., but I find this method works well for me.) After a bit of experimenting, this is what I do: (1) I put items into wash bags for delicates; make sure to only do loads of similar colors together. I found that several cashmere sweaters in bright colors bled a little when handwashing, (2) Squeeze a generous amount of Soak directly on the laundry inside the drum. (I use a front loading HE machine). I also put a good amount into the detergent dispenser. I don't have an exact amount for this since it depends on how much I am washing, but one bottle lasts me about 5-7 good loads (and sometimes much more). (3) Set the presoak setting with COLD wash. This is an important step, because I found this is when my items actually got the "washing" that mimicked handwashing/soaking. If you do not have a presoak setting, I would experiment with the options on your machine. The goal is to get your items soaking in the Soak and water with as minimal agitation as possible. This really serves as the main "wash" portion. (4) Run the items on the delicate setting on COLD wash and then lay flat to dry. (Full disclosure that I actually presoak and then just run a regular wash cold on my items now because I found the very low spin cycle on delicate to leave my clothing so damp it took a long time to dry. I do believe doing this runs a much higher risk of damaging the clothing though. I sometimes also lay out an item on a dry towel with another towel on top and gently roll to help dry.) The laundry will have that wet wool smell if you use the scentless, but this does not bother me and dissipates as it dries. Because we have chemical sensitivities in my family, we have never tried any of the scented versions of this. Soak is meant to be a rinseless soap, but I do prefer to rinse it out. As others have said, this is not a cheap option, but for us, using this for loads of woolens/delicates about twice a month has saved us quite a bit of dry-cleaning. I also find that I am less "precious" with some of my clothing that I might not wear because I don't want to dry clean it. A note that I have also used this for handwashing and found it to be a good product. I simply don't have patience for the washing/rinsing (since I don't like to skip rinsing) and then the drying. For items that I am more careful with and that I absolutely do not want to agitate, I will still handwash. I removed one star because I find that the bottle (simple squeeze bottle) gets messy and that it is a bit expensive. I have this on my subscribe and save, which is a testament to how often I use it and how happy I have been with it so far. Read more

Wow!

SMODecember 23, 2025

I bought this for some woolen sweaters I have but I thought I’d put it to the test first. I have a very old quarter zip that I stuck in my cat’s bed because she likes to sleep on it. It’s smelly and dirty in spots. I soaked it for half an hour, squeezed the water out and let it air dry. I was shocked at the results. It looked new and it had a nice clean scent. No sign of the cat’s previous possession. She did get it back. I’m sold. Great stuff. Read more

From woolens to couches, this detergent does it all!

Chris L.November 7, 2025

I knit and crochet all kinds of fibers as well as housing a unique collection of hand knit woolens. I used this product on a vintage Irish cable knit cardigan that is well over 40 years old, and it worked wonders. This worked well on everything from wool to cashmere to cheaper acrylic yarns. I also used a little on my sofa and rugs. The integrity of every item held up very well, and the scent is just right. It’s worth the money, especially if you’re a fiber artist. Read more

Great product to clean sweaters. Just soak for 15 minutes, wring out, and air dry. Much cheaper then dry-cleaning. Read more
