My cat has feline herpes along the ocular nerve. Without this product, if he gets stressed, his eye gets all red and can swell shut. He gets a very small dusting over his wet food and mixed in well twice a day, and no eye problems! This is a great product for cats because the granules are really fine, making it really easy to mix into wet food so he doesn't notice the taste or texture. I've tried a prescription kind from the vet, which was three times the price, and the granules were too large. He noticed the smell and texture each time, and would not eat it! This is a great product! The only problem I have is that this item used to be included with free shipping from Amazon Prime, but now it's an "add on" item. Now if you are a Prime member, you cannot even order this item unless you have $25 in your cart, which defeats the purpose of having a Prime membership. Please Amazon, do away with the "add on" products. Isn't that what our Prime memberships are for? Read more
Several years ago we took in a stray cat who, unknown to us, had the feline herpes virus. All our cats caught the herpes virus and for years showed occasional flare ups. None of our cats wanted to eat the pastes the vet suggested and, they didn't mix well in their food anyway. As a last resort I found this Source Naturals powder online and gave it a try. It works! I mix 1/8th of a teaspoon into their wet food every other day and they don't even notice it. It's easy to use and lasts a long time. (Note: Before giving this to your cats, talk to your vet! Our vet gave us a rough estimate on how much powder to use based on the human dose of 1/2 teaspoon, but your cat's needs may vary.) Also, I know this powder doesn't have all the added preservatives and other ingredients that other lysine supplements have, which I appreciate. Read more
I put this in my cats' food. They both do a better job of eating their food with the finer ground lysine than what I could do with a pill, a spoon, and cutting board. I notice that if I put too much in one spot and don't mix it in, my kitten will lick it and shake her head like it tastes really bad (then she runs to eat the other cat's food). If I spread the powder out better or mix it in, they don't seem to notice the taste. Best of all, they don't get red eyes and their sneezing has gone away. It's definitely solving the problem I was trying to solve. Read more
My ferret had a slightly runny eye when we first brought him home. If you know how L-Lysine can help with this type of thing, then I can tell you that this brand definitely helped for my little guy! I just sprinkled some on top of his chicken (he is on a raw diet - which to be honest I also believe has helped bring his health up since we switched over from kibble!) and within minutes the powder would dissolve from the moisture of the chicken. He had no problem eating it. :) In a couple of weeks, his runny eye was completely dry and back to normal! (His coat and overall condition has also improved). I will definitely be keeping this stuff on hand, and recommend it if you have a cat/ferret/etc. that would benefit from L-Lysine powder. Read more

This powder has helped my cat, a previous bottle. The latest bottle is not doing the same symptom removal but it may be because we quit giving it when the culture did not show herpes virus. vets thought cat had herpes, turns out it has a bacterial infection requiring weeks of doxycycline. After a month of not getting lysine, the symptoms came back, and we realized, even with no virus, the lysine was helping him. before this powder, I took pills and crushed them into powder but did not see any difference in kitty's sinus drainage until i started using this brand. yes, will use this brand again.
