I have been using this product for about two months now and it has made a noticeable difference in my dog’s responsiveness during training. The remote is easy to use, the signal is reliable, and I really appreciate that it works well even in wet conditions. The different training modes are helpful and feel effective without being overwhelming. This is my second Sport Dog collar. The first one lasted about 4 years. My golden stays in the water a lot during the summer and the collar continued to work. Not sure why this happened but with my first collar the charger stopped working. I was not able to find another charger to purchase. It was probably outdated. This newer model is great. I love that I rarely have to shock my golden, as she responds very well just to the beep. Having the low level BUZZ is good too. It is not hurtful and when I have to use it she responds very well. I have a basset hound who likes to run the fence line and scratch up the fence playing with the neighbor's dog. I previously purchased bark collars from SportDOG, so I knew it was a quality product and company. This device is a tad different from the bark collars, however. Unlike the bark collars, this trainer automatically turns off while charging. Not that big of a deal, but I always forget to turn it back on after charging while my dog is mid-trapse through the mud. The other small complain is that the buttons aren't labeled and they're not programmed to the most logical arrangement. So this product works, while it works. I read that other people have had poor luck with the batteries in the collar lasting more than a year. In my expereince it didnt last a month. We have a stubborn dog that responds verry well to this collar, even on lower setting. We charged the collar over night, and train with it durring the day. Randomly one day, the collar unit would no longer take a charge. The charging indication light would come on, and shortly after turn off. If you tried to turn it on, nothing would happen. I find it pretty rediculous that a supposed reputable brand like SportDog would allow for this quality of a product hit the shelf. Luckily I was still within the 30 Day amazon return window, but with this level of quality I can not recomend it to anyone. If my next product performs better than I will update my review. In the event that the replacement comes I receive works better, I would not give the product more than 3-4 stars. The audible beep, is neither loud or adjustable, and is best discribed as almost worthless. Even when working as it should, the battery life is dismal at best. Even on standby, and none of the training features being used, the unit only has a battery life of 2 days. So if you are human and ever forget to accomplish a small task, this unit is not forgiving in that aspect at all. Read more

The media could not be loaded. This w collar is the best thing I’ve ever purchase for my dog. EVER. He is an 11 year old pitbull that has never had a good recall. He is the kind of dog that knows his commands, is obedient on leash, in our fenced yard, and obedient in the house. BUT the moment he can escape, he will! He has been this way since he was 3 months old. He will dart past, rush, and use any open door as an opportunity to run. He will run for miles and hours chasing squirrels, birds, cats, etc. and will quite literally ignore all attempts to recall. Now that he’s a senior dog, these escapes happen much less often, and he will eventually give up after he’s being chased for a while. However, we are getting a new puppy and really didn’t want her to learn from his bad behaviors. I researched for a few weeks before we decided on this brand. I figured if hunting dogs could be trained with this thing, so could my boy. Y’all, I can’t believe what this collar has done to my dog! Here are the PROS: -remote is easy to use and fits well into my hand -having tone, static, and vibrate are great options and avoid unnecessary static corrections as he responds well to tone by itself. Most times I don’t even need to press the tone button. -I use static levels 1-2, and he’s totally responsive. -range is phenomenal. Can go from one end of a park to the other and have control over him. -He no longer darts out the door. -I can walk him on a leash without his prong collar. -he can walk outside with me off leash and comes as soon as I say his name. -he can be in the run with our chickens and doesn’t even flinch when they come near. -on walks he is rarely, if ever distracted or interested in chasing ANYTHING -As soon as I take the collar off of the charger in the mornings. He is at my feet wagging his tail and waiting for me to put it on. He’s a happier dog now that he has so much more freedom! Now for the Cons: -despite following the collar adjustment guidelines, my boy developed sores on his neck. I would suggest checking regularly in case any develop. He was wearing his collar for long durations because I didn’t want him to escape and then not have the collar on to reinforce my training, thus destroying all of our progress. Once he became more reliable and trustworthy to respond to his recall, I now leave the collar extremely loose(so he can at least hear the tone), and adjust tighter when we go outdoors. -both collar and remote have to be charged nightly, or you risk it not being fully charged. I made the mistake of skipping one night. It worked the next morning, but was dead that evening when I needed it to be working. I can miss a night here or there, but if we will be out all day(using the collar),I have to charge it in the morning to be safe. I would recommend charging as soon as you remove it. -personally, the lanyard is uncomfortable hanging around my neck. I would much rather prefer there were a clip on the remote so that I can attach to my waistband. -there are times that I press the tone button, and it’s delayed in relating the beep. I notice this more often if I skip a charge the night before. -vibration doesn’t seem to have an affect on my dog as far as being a correction. -using this device requires already having a dog who understands basic obedience commands. You can’t just strap it on and start using static and expecting your dog to be an angel. *In the wrong hands, this collar can do more harm than good.
