I was surprised by the negative reviews because my 55 lb dog loves this toy. And I means LOVES it! I fill it with about 1/2 cup of kibble and she plays with it until it is empty, her little tail nub wagging the whole time. She really has to work at it to get every treat out, which is what makes it such a good puzzle toy. When I first introduced it to her, to avoid frustration, I put the kibble in the easier compartments and also tossed kibble to her when she would paw the toy. Now that she understands the game, she gets very excited when I get the ball out and it will keep her busy a good 20 minutes or more. The faceted sides are awesome because the ball doesn't immediately roll under the couch and disappear. I agree that the toy is hard to open but if you examine the way the the clip works, then hold it down while you wiggle the other half of the ball, it will open. Once you have done it a few times, it gets easier but still stays tight enough not to come open while your dog roughly plays with it. My dog is not a chewer so we have not had the chewing that another user reported. We've had the toy several months and there is no damage at all. Prior to this toy, we were fans of the wobbler but this ball keeps her busier for a longer time and she will choose it over the wobbler if I put them both down. This is a great toy! My daughter has one for her dog who constantly needs brain games. This does the trick! I got a puppy and she’s 4 mos. I have wooden floors and because the ball is made of a hard rubber it doesn’t damage them AND it’s not very noisy because it isn’t like the other hard plastic balls out there. There is one tip that I’d like to share, though, because I had a deuce of a time getting it open. I am a small woman and it was difficult to get my hands around it to open until my husband figured out a way.
