I used this leather repair kit to ‘glue’ back an area of my Sophia that was peeling and separating the color layer from the leather so I did not use it to repair cracks or holes. I was surprised it was water based and had no odor. Last kit I had was patroleum based and really smelled. It is super easy to use for my purpose. I folded back the place that separated, applied a thin layer to the leather part and pressed the colored piece back. I won’t say it can’t be seen but it looks much better. The kit comes with two tubes of black, one tube of white, small mixing dish, two paint brushes spatula and a thin plastic glove. You can mix any shade ov grey to black you need to. Since it is water based it doesn’t have any stickiness at first. Considering what it cost to redo a patch of leather on a couch. The value is excellent. The repair was on the side of a sofa so o can’t say how much wear and tear it will take. The w quality seems to be high, it worked for me. It functions well for a quick repair. I cannot speak on its longevity since it’s only been two weeks but overall I am happy with the results. It will protect that area better than unprotected leather. Overall I am satisfied. Take it slow and easy and don’t rush. Read more

I’m impressed! Bought the “brown repair kit” to repair a three way tear on an old (but much used and loved) leather couch. There were three “slits” in a star pattern, each about an inch long. Ugly. I had a local repair service look at it and they stitched it up, which stabilized the rips for the moment, but the threaded area looked awful and I was worried that over time the stitches would pull out or tear the material and open up again. So I used the repair kit to “paint” the stitched area and take the “sin” off the stitches. My comments: 1) the color match is pretty darn good right out of the tube. Definitely apply a thin coat first and wait for it to dry as the color darkens somewhat. 2) adjust the color for the remaining coats as needed. But be sure to apply thin coats. Many thin coats make a better repair than a thicjk coat all at once. 3) Matching the texture of the base leather is a hit or miss task. Given the threading I was trying to cover up it was impossible to match textures. But the repair materials filled the thread pattern and “locked” the stitches which now show no sign of movement. This is probably best for small repairs, but my couch looks pretty good, much better than having an open set of tears. And as it would cost about $5000 to replace the couch this was a bargain! Great color combination, great for small repairs that doesn’t require the use of the backing fabric provided with this repair kit. The fabric is thick, doesn’t adhere. It would work better if this kit also had a thinner back fabric and some sort of glue material to keep the fabric in place prior to adding the compound. Maybe a thinner back fabric would have a better adherence. Also improved the instructions. I had to search for better instructions prior to using this kit since the box didn’t have one available. My satisfaction stemmed from the fact that it included a great deal of information. This kit arrived in a beautifully organized manner, with a variety of tools and compounds that were matched in color. This made the procedure of repair simple, especially for someone like myself who was just starting out. I found the directions to be straightforward and simple to comprehend, and they led me through the application procedure in a step-by-step manner. The fact that this kit is designed to be easy to use is what I believe sets it apart from other kits that I have come across. In particular, I am pleased with the way in which the repair mixes in perfectly with the original material. In order to ensure that the patched sections are nearly indistinguishable from the rest of the jacket, the color matching is exceptional in its precision. Once the appropriate amount of drying time had passed, the areas that had been repaired seemed to be as good as new. This resulted in the overall appearance of the jacket being restored without any obvious traces of damage that had occurred in the past. I have been able to effectively use it on a few other things around the home, including my car seats and a leather-bound pocketbook, in addition to my jacket on which I have used it. The fact that this kit may be used to repair a variety of fake, artificial, and real pleather products makes it an invaluable addition to anyone's collection of home tools. It has proven to be both cost-effective and practical since it has prevented me from having to replace a number of leather products, which would have been expensive. Read more

This must have been an old product left on the shelf too long. The black tubes of leather repair were too hard and would not squirt out of the tube. I even queezed the tubes for several minutes trying to mix up the product in the tube but nothing would come out . I even cut into the tube to see if an liquid would come out and again nothing. Don't waste your money on this product it is not worth it. Read more
