I am editing to update this review having used the pillow for several days. I have lowered my review from a five star to a four star because the arm that holds the phone tends to droop easily and not hold its position. I only use this for my phone, and I find that I tend to keep the arm in the lowest position because of my position when I use this in bed, so the drooping doesn’t really affect my use. That said, if you were looking to use this for a tablet, I would imagine that the drooping would be significantly more pronounced given the increased weight. The arm itself adjusts using three different knobs to hold the different joints in place, and it seems that those knobs don’t hold the joints strongly enough to keep the arm where it needs to be. So, your mileage may vary, but I would imagine that with a tablet in the arm, there would be a fair amount of drooping. This is absolutely perfect for my needs. I will admit that I am a bit addicted to my phone, but I worry that the weight of it is doing bad things to my hand health, including primarily my wrists and fingers. When I saw this pillow, I figured I would give it a try. I am super happy with it. It comes disassembled, but it is very quick and easy to put together (under 2 minutes). The arm that holds the phone (or other device) moves in several places, allowing for a really broad range of flexibility in terms of height and distance from your eyes. (Given that I am 50+, the ability to adjust the distance from my eyes is really huge, as I can find just the right distance to avoid needing to dig out my "cheaters" reading glasses.) The adjustable angles have locking twist knobs so that you can find the right settings and then lock it in place. The clamp head that holds the phone itself is on a rotational ball joint, so you can still adjust the angle of the phone once the rest of the arm is locked down, which is very convenient and allows for some fine tuning of your viewing angle. I find that I can now use my phone while in bed or on the sofa without having to worry about my fingers going numb or my wrists getting sore. As an added bonus, I find that certain angles allow me to slump my neck over much less than I do when I am holding my phone in my hand, so that is an added neck-and-shoulders benefit that I hadn't been anticipating. The pillow on the base is nice and soft, which is comfortable, although the bottom of the pillow is a hard plastic plate, which I wasn't expecting. You just need to be careful not to set it so that the base plate hits you at an uncomfortable angle, but that hasn't been an issue so far. The compartments at the base allow for a beverage, snacks, remote, reading glasses, etc. to be stored with ease. The whole thing is a bit bulky and takes a bit of getting used to, but once it is set up, it really is a genius solution for those of us with a combination of a phone habit and older joints. I haven't tried it with a larger tablet like an iPad yet, but it is definitely big enough to hold one, and it would make watching an iPad in bed MUCH easier than trying to prop it up on a pillow. I fell in love with this snack pillow. It not only holds my kindle, but I can also use it for my phone and iPad. Is it a necessity? No. But it’s a little bit of comfort and luxury that doesn’t break the bank. I read a lot. And when I read I usually have snacks with me. This makes it so convenient. I would say most tumblers fit in the cup holder. My Starbucks, Contigo, and Simple Modern tumblers fit perfectly. I’ve never owned a Stanley or a Stanley style cup so I can’t tell you if they’d fit, but I believe they would since the base of the tumbler is smaller than the top. The pillow is very soft, but sturdy. The two pockets on the side are very convenient. It’s not too big, not too bulky, and it’s sturdy- it stays put when you place it on your bed or couch; you don’t have to worry about spills. The assembly is very easy and only takes about two minutes. It comes well packaged. The instructions are not very clear but it’s easy to figure out. The arm is adjustable but you have to loosen the knobs to reposition. There’s one at the very base of the arm, in the center, and top. That’s a bit of a pain but I feel like it makes it more stable. You can also rotate your device 360 degrees. The part that holds the tablet is self-adjusting so you’ll be able to fit various electronics. Each side has a groove so you can charge your device comfortably while it’s on it, and that really sold me. Overall, if you’re in the market for an item like this, and you love to read or watch videos/movies on your devices, this is a fantastic option. I never knew how comfortable it is to not have to hold my kindle or iPad in my hands while I read. Now that I have it I can’t imagine being without it. Read more
