When video games first came out, they talked about the possibilities that could occur in the future. One of the ones promised was that they would let you travel the world. No game I've ever played has come close to fulfilling that promise, until Tchia. This game takes place on a set of islands inspired by the culture of New Caledonia, a country I didn't even know existed. Yet, here I am, after finishing the game, feeling like I have a taste of what New Caledonia life and culture is like. It's the same feeling as when you visit a new country as a tourist. You see new food, you see new customs and traditions, you see values that people hold sacred that are different from yours. You see all of that just long enough to understand that it goes deeper than you will have the time or opportunity to fully understand, but you've been given enough to whet your appetite of curiosity the leaves you yearning to know more. And it's all packed into a beautiful game with enough gameplay and missions to keep you engaged, but low-stakes enough that you can sit back and relax as you soak in the surroundings. Read more

I like how the game plays and I enjoyed the game up to the point where what I thought was a nine year old (I think shes actually 12) suddenly realizes she is in love with another character. This, for me, came out of no where and it isnβt really mentioned again other than briefly at the end. However, the game does make you have the main character and this other person kiss. You have no ability to refuse unless you turn off the game. There are also certain flags in the game representing various genders though you only see them if you go to a certain spot. Read more

In the year of our lord gaben 2023 this game is a true hidden gem. Id put it in the top 5 indie games in terms of graphical quality and fidelity. With kena bridge of spirits being the top if not near the top. The developers apparently have a cultural significance and heritage to the land they designed to represent a real life location and its people. Realistically speaking though, we are all burnt out from the broken mess triple a, double a etc games which feel like asset flips or are loaded with micro transactions and need months of patching to run even what was promised as stable. That's not the case here thankfully as ps5 also has a performance patch that was added for full 60fps. Although i recommend disabling film grain in settings for sure since it always ruined the picture for me anywhere its used. This game is what devs should strive to meet at bare minimum. The attention to detail is unreal and everything is designed with such care and precision while still keeping a specific character graphic model consistency. Its a cozy type game so its more about enjoying and atmosphere and exploring and it does that right. It wouldnt make sense to describe stuff here in detail about the graphics so i suggest looking up trailer videos of it on the playstation channel on yt. Overall this is worth the money imo since $70 full price base games on the ps5 have been a dissappointment and meanwhile here we have a gem of actual development quality. For $35 its not bad at all and perfectly priced as an indie game even though they could've easily charged more. Read more

Instead of writing a one-star review for a game containing appropriate TEEN behavior (like kissing heaven forbid), try actually reading the rating and doing research. If kissing is too much for your family to handle, maybe video games just aren't for you! Read more

This game fooled me good. I had played a little over half way through and was enjoying it. I have a couple of younger kids who were getting into it as well. Even though it is a copy of wind waker and breath of the wild and a far cry enemy camp element. Around the middle of the game it suddenly forces you to make two 12 year old little girls kiss. Can't skip it, can't continue the game unless you do this. Absolutely disgusting and out of no where. No need for it and with those ages, just wrong and pathetic for them to sneak something like this into a "kids" game. Threw the disc away Read more

Not a fan of a kids game forcing the main character to kiss another kid. Not to mention both are girls. Deleted it and will not recommend. My kids were enjoying the game until that part and they asked me why the kids are kissing?!? Really?!? Read more
