I was enticed to order this economy-priced 12" diameter super-bright light-weight LED lamp with the hope it could help solve the low light problem in my mom's 3-car garage. In two words: brilliant success! Now more words. The garage in question has an open ceiling about 15' at its peak, not the highest of bays but certainly up there. My choice of mounting points was a crown rafter just a few feet behind the central point between front and back, to allow better illumination with the garage door open. Besides that door the only light obstructions are the 2"x4" joists that are close enough to the lamp they do not cause shadowing. The lamp comes with a 3-prong 5' power cord that was easy to extend to an existing outlet attached to another nearby joist and which was already conveniently wired to a wall switch. So installation was fast--under an hour, including preliminary positioning testing and attachment of the security cable to the rafter. When finished my mom agreed it felt as if I'd installed our own little mini sun, eclipse glasses required if inclined to look directly at it. Seriously though, the illumination was remarkable, with excellent coverage over 75% of garage floor space. It was adequate over the other 25%, benefited by the peripheral light fixtures already in place. I appreciate the 5-year warranty provided by this lamp since it definitely generates some substantial heat. I imagine its robust aluminum construction and generous heat baffling will prevent the need to make use of that warranty. My one minor disappointment was the lack of an available connection for a dimming rheostat. I have a high bay LED lamp in my own garage that sports that feature and it's nice to be able to tune down the brightness at will. So far that has been no problem in my mom's larger garage where brighter is better, other than in the taking of my pictures. They can only illustrate indirectly the light produced by this super lamp.
