This is what I found out about these HDDs. I bought 4 of these to use as External HDDs (by adding enclosures) for PC data backups for a small non-profit company. They work fine. No issues whatsoever. These were new, bulk-packaged HDDs, in a plain white package (appearing to be packaged by Toshiba). For the price, it is a great value for my uses. . They are Genuine Toshiba HDDs, but NOTE: . They have a 2 Year Toshiba Warranty, but the 4 I received were Manufactured August 2014, so they were out of Toshiba's warranty period. These Toshiba HDD are 2.5 Inch MQ01ABD-V Series specialty, Video Stream HDDs: . "The MQ01ABD-V series is suitable for video editing, set-top-box (STB), digital video recorders (DVR) and network video recorders (NVR) applications where large capacity, low power and low acoustics are critical." . In my experience these were Not New drives. With few exceptions SMART will indicate 2 Power On Cycles and 0 Hours, however a file recovery scan and surface check often tells a different story. Of the last four drives I purchased I found: (drive A) contained 741 deleted files and 48 bad sectors, (drive B) contained 1006 deleted files and had no bad sectors, (drive C) contained 13 deleted files and had no bad sectors, (drive D) indicated no presence of deleted files and had no bad sectors. The deleted files were largely Final Cut Pro and other video related files. The drives were clean and consistently packaged. Most of all they were cheap. I have successfully used a number of them but I scan them first and utilize them based on their experience (or lack there of). I would not use one when preparing my tax returns but for non critical back up they work just fine. Read more

I bought this as a replacement hard drive for my laptop which was originally only with a 50 GB hard drive. I was able to clone that hard drive with this new one and it has worked flawlessly. Very good value for the money and exactly what I needed I would buy again if I had a need for another one. Read more
