It's no miracle worker that's for sure. But the fact is that it does provide relief depending on the severity of your throat infection. Day 1, it provided short term relief. It made the pain bearable for 2 to 3 hours. Day 2, it provided a little more relief for about 2 to 3 hours. At this point I started to mix the tea with honey to increase relief. After adding honey, it increased pain relief but still for only 2 to 3 hours. Day 3, it provided relief for about half the day before I had another cup again. Mind you, this is paired with cough drops, rest, and plenty of water. The taste is nothing spectacular, it tastes exactly what you think a herbal concoction would taste like. excellent tea...we drink a lot of this tea especially during winter months when colds, flus are active to keep our respiratory system up to fight germs...it doesn't prevent flus or colds but it does feel soothing if one feels under the weather...the taste is gentle & doesn't taste like medicine...there is an undertone or hint of perhaps licorice but definitely not strong...nice flavor...
