Premium duffel bag seems kind of like an oxymoron to me. However, as a person that spend several years traveling extensively for work, I really appreciate the amount of thought and detail that goes into good luggage. Tumi, as a brand, in my opinion, really understands all the issues that most travelers encounter. They make a really quality product that really works very well. I've had several of their other bags over the years and despite the much higher price tag than most, they are very much an investment like a good set of pots and pans. You can grab the cheap stuff but that will more than likely fail at some point and you'll have to buy it again, or you can grab the higher quality built to last product and keep it for the rest of your life. Anyhow, this bag is excellent. I travel less these days but I very much appreciate how compact this thing is. Additionally, it isn't super hard to compress down. It works very well, feels very capable and sturdy and looks just as good as any other Tumi designed bag. Zippers and pockets are excellent. Wheels roll smoothly, handle is sturdy. In short, it's a really nice bag. Is it worth the seemingly very high price? Well, that certainly depends. For me, if I was to go back out on the road again consistently, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up quality travel gear that won't fail me when I need it. Tumi also stands behind all their bags with a pretty extensive warranty. Anyhow, my 2 cents here are that, yes, this is an expensive bag but it is also a very good well though out bag that will last a long time. Well worth it for anyone that values quality travel equipment. Read more
The Alpha Bravo model of collapsible duffel by Tumi is made in Thailand. The listed capacity on the label is 86 liters. The label also lists the material as 98% ballistic nylon and 2% leather with a 100% polyester lining. The label also lists the bag weight at 6.2 pounds. The dimensions on the label are 31.5 inch by 14.25 inch by 12 inches (14 inches expanded). The full dimensional length when expanded is 59.75 inches, which is under the 62 inch maximum by most US airlines for a checked bag (length + width + height). The zipper pulls and small D-rings are made from metal. The collapsible duffel does not have TSA locks included. There is an expanding wheeled duffel in the Alpha Bravo line for $120 more that has 9 liters less space, but has many of the features this bag lacks. I am left with a question, is this bag for me? My answer is to pay the extra and get the Alpha Bravo wheeled duffel expanding case instead. The AB collapsible duffel is a quality made bag by Tumi that includes a five year warranty and is made to last. But the AB collapsible duffel is bare bones when compared to the features Tumi offers in its other bags and cases. 4 stars Read more
This is easily the nicest bag I have ever seen or felt. It’s truly astonishing and sort of difficult to describe. The material seems like commonly used material at first glance but it’s something else entirely. It has no fiber frays and feels different. It is unbelievably tough. This is a bag that should last several years with continuous use. The bag is also huge but somehow collapses into a tote size that can be carried with 1 finger. It’s crazy that a bag this tough and durable is also this lightweight. The price on this bag is very high but with what it offers I don’t think it’s too expensive, depending on your needs. Overall, I recommend this bag if it’s in your price range. Read more
