Parks N' Tech—November 25, 2025
When I first unboxed this little blue cylinder, I honestly laughed. It is remarkably small—roughly the size of a large coffee capsule or a golf ball—and I found myself immediately skeptical that something this diminutive could produce anything resembling quality audio. The metallic blue finish gives it a sleek, premium look that catches the light beautifully, making it feel more like a modern accessory than a piece of tech. It fits effortlessly into the palm of my hand, and the included lanyard loop immediately sparked ideas of clipping it to my backpack or even my keychain for on-the-go tunes. Pairing it to my phone was instantaneous. I barely had time to navigate to my Bluetooth settings before the connection was established. But the real shock came when I hit play. The volume this thing pumps out is genuinely disproportionate to its size. I expected tinny, weak sound, but what I got was clear, punchy audio that easily filled my home office. While it’s not going to rattle the windows with sub-bass—physics still apply, after all—the mids and highs are surprisingly crisp. I tested it with a mix of acoustic tracks and podcasts, and the vocals cut through with impressive clarity. It’s perfect for personal listening bubbles, like when I'm cooking or lounging on the patio, without needing to lug around a brick-sized speaker. The "True Wireless Stereo" (TWS) feature is where this gadget truly shines. I decided to grab a second unit to test the "play 2 speakers together" claim, and the setup was seamless. With two of them paired, the soundstage expanded dramatically. Placing them on opposite ends of my desk created a genuine stereo separation that I’ve never experienced with a mono micro-speaker before. It transforms the experience from "listening to a speaker" to "listening to music," adding a layer of depth that makes these tiny dots feel like a much larger system. It’s a neat party trick that actually adds functional value, especially for watching movies on a laptop where built-in speakers usually fall flat. I also put the built-in microphone through its paces during a few work calls. Usually, speakerphone mics on budget devices are an afterthought, often sounding like you're talking from inside a tunnel. My experience here was pleasantly adequate; while I wouldn't use it for a high-stakes boardroom presentation, it was perfectly serviceable for quick chats. The person on the other end heard me clearly enough without me having to shout at the device, which is a massive win for something I can lose in my pocket. Battery life has been another pleasant surprise. I’ve been getting a solid afternoon of playback on a single charge at moderate volume. It’s liberating to not worry about a charger for a day trip. I love that it uses a standard USB connection, so I don't need to hunt for a proprietary cable. Between the shockingly loud output, the stereo capability, and the sheer portability, this blue HOAIYO speaker has quickly graduated from a "cute gadget" to a daily essential in my bag. It proves that you don't always need big gear to get big sound. Read more

This bluetooth speaker is compact and comes in a nice carry case that also holds the included charging cable. It charged pretty quickly and paired easily with my iphone. The blue color is really nice (the picture on the box was red, but inside it was blue). As you can see in the photo, it's very small (for comparison purposes, I placed it next to a full-sized spool of thread), and that's where I get confused. The sound is honestly worse than the speaker on my iphone, so I'm not sure how I would use this. If the speaker on your phone is poor, I can see how it would be valuable, but otherwise, it's probably not an improvement over anything you already have. Read more
