I use this Unigear sleeping bag with my Crua Koala Hammock (the colors work well together). I recently overnighted on a 50 degree night and felt the bag was the perfect weight. I only had it zipped about 1/3 the way up the side because I tend to get too warm. I never felt too hot or too cold throughout the night. I do like that there's a sort of fat padded flap that covers the length of the zipper from the inside. This would keep cold air from coming through the zipper on a cooler night and, in general, keep the metal zipper from touching your skin. The one thing that eventually goes bad on a sleeping bag is, of course, the zipper. This zipper feels like great quality. It moves quite freely both directions . I note in the included written information that the stuff sack appears to be the same size for the long bag as it is for the regular size. I know it did take a bit of work to get my long bag rolled up and stuffed inside. They suggest not storing the bag long term in the stuff sack. Over winter I may try putting storing it under my mattress. This bag is not super light weight but that is not really a big concern for me as I likely will not be hiking very far with it. Based on my past purchases, Unigear is a reliable choice for sturdy, effective gear at a good price. The only big sacrifice is that they usually don't use the lightest & smallest materials. This sleeping bag appears to fit in that same description. It has several pros — sturdy fabric, effective insulation, good zippers, and a genuinely useful stuff sack. It's not obvious in the photos, but the stuff sack actually does have a handle on the bottom, which is helpful when you're carrying gear to & from your tent. I believe the 50° temperature rating is accurate, which means this is a warm weather sleeping bag. Don't expect this to keep you warm much below 50° unless you're pairing it with a blanket or other warm clothes. For comparison, I've posted a photo of this sleeping bag next to another one rated down to 30° (REI Kindercone) and a much nicer backpacking quilt that uses down filling and is rated to 20° (UGQ Bandit). Because this Unigear sleeping bag uses more traditional materials, it's going to be larger, heavier, and tougher than more expensive models that use ultralight components. That's completely fine. It's still a good option for backyard or car camping where space and weight aren't at a premium. Personally I was still a little surprised at how large it was, given it's only rated to 50°. This was a great sleeping bag for warm weather or for peeps like me who naturally get to warm even in cold weather. It kept me warm throughout the night while camping. It is also soft and lightweight. The only problem was the zipper got stuck on both mine and my husband sleeping bag multiple times. So although it is very comfortable and light weight I’m unsure how long it will last. Read more
