I am a creative person who enjoys sewing and crafting, and anything DIY, but only at a beginner-level. I have a degree in interior design and I work with upholstery shops all the time. Their custom work is super expensive so I am naturally curious to try some simple projects myself, such as creating my own custom headboard, or re-upholstering a bench or ottoman with awesome, textured fabric or a thin rug. I have watched many DIY YouTube video tutorials and I think I am ready to give it a try. That is why I was excited to come across and order this basic set of upholstery repair kit, but was mainly looking forward to trying these special, heavy duty needles that are claimed to be strong enough to handle leather. The snipping scissors, the seam ripper, and thimbles are similar to what I already own and they all seem good quality after testing them on a garment. The bonded waxed thread samples are not enough for a full upholstery project, but they would certainly be perfect for smaller repairs. As I am yet to try and test the individual tools and materials on an actual upholstery project, I can certainly say that the seller's listing accurately advertises the contents of the kit.
