The USB 3.0 to SATA IDE Hard Drive Reader works as expected! It makes recovering data from old hard drives quick and simple. Setup was straightforward, and the USB 3.0 connection is fast and reliable. While it wasn’t able to read my PS3 hard drive, that doesn’t take away from its overall performance. A must-have tool for anyone needing to access or transfer data from SATA or IDE drives...highly recommend! Read more

The media could not be loaded. I recently found an old hard drive I thought I’d lost more than 10 years ago, so I picked up this HD reader to see what was on it. Setup was effortless, and it worked right away with no hassle. The read and write speeds are solid, and overall I’m really happy with how well it performed. Read more

Worked great, was able to pull pictures & other important documents off two old hard drives. Be sure to follow the instructions & set your "drive jumper" to "master" but pretty straight forward to operate & did what I needed it to, recommend! Read more

I was initiall upset because I couldnt get it to work with ANY older drives. But after extensive experimentation on various jumper settings I got most of them to work. Start with the single or cable select modes its usually the one that works. For those out there that might be looking - this will absolutely NOT work on CHS drives. I played with it extensively and came to the conclusion busting out an old board will be faster and easier... Every other PATA drive I tried worked great (eventually). I did not try SATA as I have a 2 drive bay for SATA drives. Not the easiest device around due to vast differences in drive architecture but I am playing with drives as old as 1987 so I cant really hold it against these guys. Read more

TL;DR - Quality: Suspect - Value for Money: POOR - Compatibility: Unknown - Functional: No I plugged in a old EIDE drive along with the power connector. It wouldn't even boot enough to be recognized by the USB bus. Once I removed the power connector to the EIDE drive, the device was recognized. The device simply doesn't supply enough power to work when it's trying to power the drive also. That was the whole point. Do not buy, it's power supply is insufficient to power the drive and move the data even though it supposedly supplies 2A of power at 12 Volts, 24 Watts just doesn't seem to be enough. Read more

Has difficulty providing power to the hard drive, therefore the drives do not boot. I have to catch this thing in the 'mood' to work. I still have tons of data to recover. Looking for another one... Read more
