Basically this is an Oreck clone, at a much better price. Unlike most Oreck clones, it's a copy of modern high power Orecks, not the old fashioned Classic Orecks that just pickup surface dirt. Our house has a good variety of flooring, flat commercial carpet in the hall, low pile in one bedroom, soft plush in another bedroom, medium pile in the last bedroom, medium-high in the living room, and loose laid sheet vinyl in the kitchen. The living room and soft plush in one bedroom can be problem carpets for some vacuums, stalling brushrolls and/or making a vacuum nearly impossible to push. The Vacmaster did well in every room, I used high speed on every carpet and it never stalled, wasn't difficult to push, and the reverse chevron brushroll did a surprisingly good job digging out pet hair and dirt, and fluffing/grooming the carpets. The edge cleaning was adequate, but not amazing, I've seen better and I've seen worse. Low speed did well on the sheet vinyl. The squeegee kept anything from kicking back at my feet, and the pickup was good without the suction being high enough to "grab" the vinyl, which has been a problem in the past. It's no Kirby, but it's no old fashioned Classic Oreck either. Classic Orecks absolutely lock to our problem carpets, the Vacmaster practically glided over them. The grooming and pickup is impressive, especially for something so cheap and so lightweight. It's not all roses, the plastics used are obviously on the cheaper side, the cord is cheap and stiff, and the headlight could be brighter, but for the price, those things aren't really surprising. End of the day, it's a lightweight, well performing, basic bagged upright, with no hose or attachments, at a bargain price. That's a rarity these days. Add a Dustbuster or cheap canister vacuum for furniture and above floor cleaning, and you are set for years of easy quick easy cleaning. Read more

I’m truly impressed with this vacuum! First of all it requires no tools to assemble it, and it comes with several very high quality cloth bags. It’s super quiet. Our dog, Lily, wasn’t bothered by it at all, and followed us around to watch us vacuuming. We found that we didn’t even need to use it on high — as low provides more than enough suction to pick up everything. Our area rugs came out cleaner than they ever have. Whereas, with the Dyson that we own, we always had to keep vacuuming in different directions until it finally got everything up. Lastly, the vacuum bags do a phenomenal job of filtering out any effluent dust. Not only are the bags huge (at 14 liters), but they are made from high quality cloth with a rubber gasket around the opening. Bagged is the way to go — as compared to the mess bagless vacuums create. The vacuum lays all the way down flat which is really useful when cleaning under chairs, and other furniture, like end tables and our bed. I still can’t believe what a bargain this appliance is. I’m so grateful that we didn’t buy any of the other, more expensive, vacuums we were considering. Read more

A very powerful and lightweight vacuum that is very easy to carry up and downstairs. I haven't filled the bag yet so I don't know how long a typical bag will last for me, but it's definitely easier to maneuver and really seems to pick up a lot of dirt. Update: I've reduced it to 1 star. On the second use, the belt snapped. Vacuuming a medium pile rug, nothing crazy. While I understand this can happen, this manufacturer does not offer a replacement belt, rendering the vacuum useless, so back to Amazon it goes. Read more

My inherited 30+ y.o. Oreck stopped sucking, so I replaced it with this Vacmaster. This "Oreck knockoff" is a pretty strong sucker. Assembly is easy. I tested it on my carpeted steps. The Oreck could never get into the 90 degree corner of the steps head on, but this Vacmaster can. Good headlight. Not a great transitioner from throw carpets to bare floor. The throws want to come with the machine so you have to turn it off to leave the throws in place. My next test will be the kitchen floor. The Oreck could never fit under the base of the cabinets which always irritated me. I gave it 4 stars because of the sucking capability, however the cord, and the way the cord attaches to the unit is sub par. The cord is not unpluggable from the unit as the Oreck's cord is. For the price point it's the purchase. Sound is not too loud. I say buy it! UPDATE: This vacuum leaves stripes of dirt (see photo) after you pull it toward you and then push it away from you. I call it "the backwash". I've never had a vacuum do this before. I use both the roller brush action, and just suction mode on my area rugs and this is what happens. This is irritating. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I clean apartment hallways & common areas 7 days per week. Previously used a commercial Oreck XL over the last few years. This winter took a beating on my old vacuum, so I needed a new one. This vacuum is perfect. Works just as good if not better than my Oreck. Comes with a locking bag doc as well as thick bags to hold dirt/dust. Power cord is nice and long. ( less plugging in & finding an outlet) It’s about 9 pounds so easy to vacuum each step & carry up to multiple stairwells. I may purchase a second one as a spare depending how long this one will last me. Read more

This does not have hoses!!! So I watched the video and read the reviews and not one time did it show it didn’t have hoses! Husband put it together and did a test run before I ever got home so after a couple of days I go to use it and realize there aren’t any hoses, who doesn’t use the accessories with hose especially in a commercial setting which this vac was compared to! I gave it 3 stars because it did vacuum good but the bag clasp was hard to open and of course it doesn’t have hoses! Then we couldn’t get apart without breaking it to return it! I ended up carrying it to my mother’s house, she has no animals or any real reason to need crevices cleaned out like we do! Also , it’s loud! Read more
