Surprisingly Effective for a Lightweight Budget Rice Cooker
The media could not be loaded. When I first removed this rice cooker from the box, I was concerned about the build quality because it is very lightweight and does not feel heavy-duty. However, after using it, I was pleased with how well it performed. This is exactly how I prepared the rice: • Light spray of non-stick spray in the inner pan • 5 cups uncooked rice • 6 cups water • Splash of olive oil • Sprinkle of salt The rice cooked in about 30 minutes and did not burn on the bottom. It was not overly sticky or too dry. The 5 cups of uncooked rice filled about half of the inner pan. Based on the pan size, I would not recommend cooking 20 cups of dry rice at once, even if the product claims a 40-cup capacity. In my experience: • 5 cups uncooked rice filled half the pan • 10 cups uncooked rice would likely fill the pan completely For best results, I would suggest not exceeding 10 cups of uncooked rice at a time. Overall: Despite feeling lightweight, this rice cooker performs well as long as it is not overloaded and is used within reasonable capacity limits. Read more
