Review of Viva Doris 2 lb citric acid. Item is fine grade and dissolves easily with warm water and use as intended did produce good results. My first time using Citric Acid to decalcify a Zojirushi hot water boiler that a friend gave me after about 2-3 years of use, the original owner never descaled his boiler throughout the 2-3 years, the build up in the inner lining was significant, the removable filter was completely encased and no water could pass through the filter. Went through the cleaning process (Zojirushi online video) and used an equivalent amount of citric acid (1 ounce/30 grams) two times. First attempt cleaning some improvement, second attempt and let continuous warm overnight and some noticeable improvement, remember the build up in the liner was significant and you could hardly see the printed water demarcations inside the pot. I read online that couple companies recommend 1 ounce per each liter, so my third time I used 3 ounces for about 3.5 liters of water (Zojirushi customer service said more citric acid could cause boil over, I did not have that experience but check the cleaning process as you don’t want to have it boil over….). major improvement and I may have to process another cleaning cycle. As for this brand of citric acid, it does dissolve quickly (anhydrous) and has cleaned my inner lining…however, you should consider using bottled water in the boiler to avoid tap hard water calcium buildup and consider a regular cleaning As I mentioned earlier, my metal filter was completely encased with build up and water would not pass through when pressing “dispense”. I cleaned the metal filter prior to cleaning the inner liner. Method for cleaning the filter was to soak the filter in lime away until you see a change (soft gel like consistency, clean and re-soak), took 4 days of this process… could buy from Zojirushi for about $10, but the lime away did the trick, and like new. But I hope you don’t let you boiler get to this state, when descaling, pay attention as you are with very hot water. Read more

This is a great product and you get a lot of it. A little goes a long way when it comes to cleaning. It is very strong. Especially when used with dish soap. I use it to make DIY Co2 for my fish tank. It lasts a lot longer than other mixtures. One bag lasts me at least a year. I also use it for tough cleaning. It can be used to clean dishes. It doesn't sud up or leave a noticable residue. Worked well the first time I bought it Good product overall. Used in cleaning and was priced really well for the quantity. Typical texture- all good. Second time I bought it arrived damaged and leaking product everywhere. No returns and no replacements. Poor shipping prep and no options for buyer. Update: The sellers reached out, they didn’t have to and refunded my busted order. I’ll continue to use them in the future. The product was always good, but the service took it over the top. Next level, really. Highly recommended. Read more

Perfect product to descale deposits of minerals on Zojirushi water boiler and dispenser. Our local water is hard and high of minerals contents and after a few months of uses, there are a lot of minerals build up at the bottom of the boiler. I have tried baking soda to clean it but it did not work until I found this citric acid. Descale is so easy. Just mixed three (3) table spoon in a warm water and pour it in the empty boiler the fill the boiler with water to max water level and push and hold the recoil button for three seconds (you should see the flashing square symbol on panel). Wait until the square symbol stopped, dump the water and refill with fresh water and it ready to use again. Read more

I'm loving this stuff for a ton of reasons - cleaning detergent build up in my washing machine, getting rid of hard water stains in my dishwasher and toilet, removing soap scum on sinks - it works really great! Lots of bang for your buck. Read more

I purchased this looking for a more affordable alternative to pricy espresso machine descaling solution, and this bag fit the bill! I have a Breville Bambino Plus, and the machine comes with one pouch of brand-official descaling powder for your first descaling cycle. After I ran out, I searched for tons of alternatives. Urnex’s Dezcal came up as an option and seems to be very popular, but I wasn’t willing to spend that much for a handful of cleanings. Citric Acid does the job just as well for a fraction of the price — such a better value! Descale Recipe: All you need is 1tbsp of Citric Acid powder (or just 20g) per liter of water. Mix your citric acid with the water and fully dissolve it with a good stir before loading your machine with the descaling solution, run your descaling cycle, then rinse out your water tank and replace with fresh coffee water (I use Crystal Geiser spring water from California in my espresso machine! It’s recommended by LaMarzocco as an ideal coffee water. Pro tip!). And bam. A perfectly descaled machine and great tasting coffee! :) This particular bag was very affordable, and the fine grain dissolved quickly with a stir. Highly recommend, and it worked really well! :) So glad I opted for this instead of pricier options. Read more
