VIVO Compact Hand Crank Stand Up Desk Frame for 37 to 77 inch Table Tops Ergonomic Standing Height

UPDATE: It has been almost 5 years since I wrote this review, and the table is still 100% perfect, solid, and works fine. I am very happy with this purchase. I see that the price has gone down since I bought it. This VIVO Compact Stand Up Desk is the smallest adjustable standing table that I could find. I wanted a tabletop that had a 36" width and a 20" depth. But the other brand tables were too big. The smallest that I could find among the other brands was one that had a 40" width and a 24" depth. Also, this VIVO desk is the cheapest of all the adjustable standing tables. The Fully Crank Desk frame was $425, including taxes and shipping. This VIVO was only $182, including taxes and shipping. There were two other brand tables that were similar in price, at around $200, but they still cost more. I was really impressed at how the VIVO desk frame parts were designed, because it felt like they put a lot of effort into figuring out the most genius way to design something sturdy but also easy to assemble. The smallest that you can make the tabletop is 34". I made my tabletop 36". The crank was always in the way of my elbow at first. But the solution is very simple. Pretend that there is a clock where the crank is. Turn the crank so that it is between 3:00 and 9:00 and it won't be in the way of your elbow at all. If your table top ends up being wider than 40", then you'd have nothing to worry about. It takes less than a minute to crank the table up or down, so I don't think anyone needs an electric adjustable table unless they are super lazy and like spending money. The crank started squeaking the second day that I used this table, but someone told me to use lithium grease spray. I used the lithium grease spray once and it never squeaked again since then. I never purchased caster wheels for this table because it is easily 50-60 lbs if I include the weight of my table top. I don't think that I would be able to easily pull or push the table across my short carpet floor. I think that you should only get caster wheels if you have a hardwood or tile floor. Thank you VIVO for making an adjustable standing desk that is more compact and cheaper than the other brands. I thought about trying to make my own adjustable standing desk out of PVC pipes, but it would have cost my around $200 for the pipes, drill, pipe cutter, screws, and pipe cement. It would not have been easy to adjust the table, and it probably would have lacked stability and not worked at all. I think this is has to be the best value-for-money option if you have a desktop you like and just need new legs. the instructions were easy to follow. The legs are very strong and stable. The height adjustment works great. Best part in my eyes is theres no electronics to break! Read more

I really like this frame and got it because it had a hand crank instead of one or two electric motors (just more things to fail) and i already had a great desk top that i wanted to use.. But i echo the complaints about poor quality screws, especially in the crank handle assembly. It's just about impossible to keep the crank handle from falling apart because the set screw in the Crank Handle Sync Rod just doesn't cut it. It's impossible to get it tight enough and after a few tries it's stripped smooth and doesn't hold an allen wrench. Thank god for duct tape to hold the Crank Handle Sync Rod to the extension. We bought this (and a set of casters) to use in our work shop (stained glass). It easily changes to a perfect height for standing work like grinding and then back to low for soldering. Super high quality desk right here. The frame is HEAVY steel, very sturdy and rigid. Bought a desk top from Ikea to put on top (~30" x 60") and it fits great. Also cool is that it's designed to accept a wide range of desk top sizes - you could definitely fit something even bigger on here without much issue. Very well designed - it was well thought through and it's definitely built to last. Not even a hint of wobble. Went together easy and it raises and lowers in a minute or less (might take a little muscle for some). The different height levels work great for me (I'm 6"1'). I ordered this to get the stand-up desk feature in my home office. It is very sturdy and easy to put together. The components are heavy gauge metal and fit and finish is very good. The crank mechanism is smooth and easy to operate. Very well-made, especially for the price. The width is adjustable so you can use a range of sizes and styles for the desk top to accommodate your work, computer setup, and decor. I custom built a desktop to fit the space I had and installed a slide out keyboard. I also bought the Adjustable Under Desk and Wall PC Mount from the same manufacturer and installed that. This is a huge improvement over a bulky sit down desk. The look will be much cleaner with some cable management items! I am getting another one of these for my other work station. Read more

This adjustable desk frame is heavy duty and very sturdy. Works well with my very heavy, 2 inch thick, 72X30 inch craft table. Very easy to assemble. Had a slight problem with the hand crank assembly because the set screw was not working properly. I emailed the company and got a prompt response even though it was the weekend. They replaced the entire hand crank assembly. I'm impressed with the quality of the product and with their customer service.
