It is useful, but do note that there are a few issues. The main holder has the issue of not really being able to tilt down well, so if you need it to tilt downward for any reason, note that it is very limited there. If you ever need to wash the ring, note that re-assembly can be a little difficult since trying to connect the pieces requires you to keep them pushed together; if you attempt to relax a little, they may be pushed apart. The page turner has the issue of not really working well for page turns if used standalone for vertical reads. It appears to simulate a tap instead of simulating page strokes, but this means you often need to put the turner towards the bottom, which can interfere with holding it. The turner is really meant to be used with the holder, but as mentioned previously, if you need it to tilt downwards for any reason, that might not be practical. For horizontal reads, this should work better. The page turner sometimes gets buggy and spams taps. This can happen if you accidentally bump into the turner, but sometimes just triggers at random when you are placing the turner. Removing and replacing the turner usually fixes this. It holds phones reasonably well and should hold smaller tablets reasonably. There is a nice spot for you to place some small items into, which is a convenient place to put the turner and remote. The page turner does work, although it requires a non-trivial amount of margin space if you don't want it to block the text, even if you try to keep it at the edge of the screen. Assembly was fairly simple and the instructions were reasonably easy to follow. Just note that the screw should be tightened after placement to secure the part that holds the phone or tablet, not before putting it on. Read more
Wow wow wow what a beautiful little invention!! Firstly I'll say the plush on the cushion part is literally among the softest I've ever felt. If you're a person who has a lot of sensory needs related to touch this will absolutely scratch that itch for you. The build quality of this is quite sturdy with adjustable locks for two of the three hinges so you can really lock your ereader/phone/tablet into place. My one concern for the sake or longevity is the lack of a tightener on the very base hinge which I worry might wear down with age. I use mine with a Kobo Libra Colour and it fits nicely with the vertical grip even with a sleep case on, though it's really not designed with that in mind so it's better to take it out of the case so your reader doesn't fall out (the grip is designed to cover the smallest amount of the front of the reader as possible so with a case on it only ends up gripping the case not the reader, again this isn't an issue with design it's just not meant to be used with cases.) The little bowl is great for holding something like a soda can or small snacks, or if you're me it's a great place to put your glasses or earphones case or other little bits and bobs that might otherwise get misplaced. It is pretty easy to disassemble the bowl part from the rest of the cushion if you need to hand wash it (the bowl OR the cushion) but the bowl part does have the metal mount for the arm embedded in it so I wouldn't try to put it through the dishwasher. In fact it's about the size of a standard cereal bowl so for any snacks that would make a mess you could just put them in a regular bowl to sit inside the bowl of the holder. The grip itself is strong and has a sort of silicone backing grip that will keep your device in place, but because it's on a ball mount you can adjust it however you want (which is great if you're lying down and want to tilt your screen horizontally to match. My only small gripe is that the locking mechanism on the ball head restricts the angle at which you can tilt this forward or back so it slightly limits the angles at which you can set it. It goes about 45 degrees front or back before it can't move any further, but with the adjustability of the other hinges it doesn't pose much of a problem. The page turner DOES function and connects easily to the remote, however I use a bluetooth page turner for my kobo so apart from testing that it works I can't say a whole lot about it. It comes in it's own carrying case and they do include 2 USB charging cables to accommodate the clicker and the remote, which I found very thoughtful instead of just including one. All in all, for besides the lack of locking mechanism on the bottom hinge and the slight lack of angling on the head ball joint I absolutely recommend this holder and page turner. For $45 (at the time of this review) I think it's very much worth it and if you're a big reader you will REALLY thank yourself for getting it. Read more
