I had my set of Henkel's for about 25 years and it was time to make a move. Found this starter set and decided to give them a try. I wanted so bad for these to deserve all 5 stars. If this were my first good set, maybe they would be a 5. The set is beautiful and the block itself is outstanding. They are super sharp. Although the pieces are certainly lighter than my 25 year old set, I just do not feel that they are as sturdy. They are a little bendy. Maybe this is the way they are made now. Maybe it is just a learning curve. I do hope they last at least half as long as my last set. Read more

Are these the best knives out there? Probably not, but they are from one of the oldest and best name in knives available. If you're the gotta have the best knives available, maybe these aren't for you. However if you are looking for great knives from a reputable name, and your needs or uses are of the average Joe, then these are what you are looking for. Great start up set. Comes with the 3 most used knives, along with shears and a block you can add more too! If you are looking for value, its hard to beat the price as well. Generally the chefs knife itself will cost nearly as much as this set goes for. I haven't had them long enough to talk about longevity yet, but the only thing I will say is when you use them, make sure to hand wash them and dry them immediately. That should keep any issues of rust that you may read about on knives in check. Brand, quality, and price, what more could you ask for! Read more
