I ordered one of these because I remember my father had one when I was a kid that he would use on his sore muscles after doing yard work. I am in technology so my muscles are not sore from physical work, but rather from sitting in front of a computer for way too long. I thought this was worth a shot considering the low price. When it arrived, it looked very much like the one my father had. The vibrating mechanism on his was made of metal and not plastic and this seemed a little lighter in weight so I was worried at first that it would be weak and useless. I have had knotted muscles in my back for YEARS that ache pretty much constantly. The main pain point is right behind my right shoulder blade because I am right handed and have that arm on the mouse all of the time. I have tried professional massage which was somewhat effective but expensive. Other than that I have to try and live with the constant ache. I tried it out and was happy to see that it still packed a pretty good punch so I asked my husband to go after the knotted muscles in my back with this thing. TEN MINUTES. TWO NIGHTS. The ache is gone. I was in tears of happiness as I had forgotten what it felt like to relax and not feel the pinching and aching in my back. The reason it works for me is that it is pretty powerful and you can put the nub-attachment on a pinched spot and just let it sit there for a minute or so while it works out the spot. At the same time the vibration is loosening all the muscles in a 2-3 inch radius of the knot. Although my husband used to try to rub by back for me a person's hands get tired after awhile, and no one can provide such fast vibrations with their hand and that is what really led to the relief for me and worked out all the kinks. I am buying one of these as a gift for everyone I know. It is amazing. Now for all the ladies who have been commenting on the *other* uses for this product. Well that's all true too, so this product is quite the multi-tasker. I would love to see Wahl make one of these with a longer handle so I can reach my own back when my husband is not around. The listing specifically lists the "Professional" model 4120-1701. The description appears to have been changed now to claim that "appearance" may differ due to upgrades. Of course, the listing still has the very specific model number previously mentioned and not just something general like just 4120 so the listing is still false. The model currently being sent out instead of the 4120-1701 is the 4120-600 and it is not a direct replacement for the 1701 Professional model at all. Furthermore, the 600 is absolute garbage. This is my third Wahl massager of this style. I bought this one to replace the 4120-200 which I had for about 10 yrs, which replaced one of the original white 4120 models I also had for a decade before that. The 1701 is similar to the 200 but absolutely nothing like the 600. The size, shape, and functionality are all completely different from the model claimed to be sold here. The power of the 600 was definitely less than my original model but was functional and acceptable enough. The 600 barely vibrates! Power is nonexistant. Even on high it is extremely underwhelming whereas high setting on other models was like a jackhammer, even on he weaker models. The massager provided when placing this order is just flat out unacceptable. It is useless garbage. Even worse, when I tried to return it I couldn't get the full purchase price refunded! All around unsatisfying experience and pathetic actions from both Wahl and Amazon. Extremely disappointed. Hunt the 1701 or earlier down elsewhere if you can or keep looking for a massager that is worth your money. So ill come out and admit I use this as a "personal" massager and it is better than anything else I have ever used. It is bulky but that doesn't matter to me or my partner. He uses it as was intended and it does the trick for that too. Its great at getting the knots out of your back and shoulder and even better at things it wasn't intended for. There are 2 speeds though the high speed is very high intensity and I would not recommend for your intimate regions. Mine has lasted 4 years now and my last one lasted about 10. The pieces come off so they are very easy to clean. This can be loud but if you move the tip you are using around you can usually get it to be a little more quiet however if you need to be discreet run a fan while in use and no one will know. I will buy a new one and would recommend this for its intended uses as well as the unintended one. Read more
