If you are a purist stay away. This thing is idiot proof. I didn't chase the correct angle everything is sharpend to 20 degs. It will shave hair on kitchen knives and edc knives. So what is not to like. Well if you must know the guide won't allow you to sharpen the last 1/8 of an inch not the end at the base. For those of us that don't want to grind our blade off I have owned 2 or don't know how to use a stone it's a really great trade off. The only other thing I have read is the guide can scratch your expensive knife blade. Haven't seen that so I can't say up or down. If you want easy watch the set up utube. Like 8 minutes or so time well spent. It's super simple it lives on my kitchen counter. Once you get all your Bevels dialed in 8 or 10 pulls and you can fine slice tomatoes. I dry my kitchen knives after hand washing and then sharpen. Enjoy best 100 I ever spent. I laughed when my wife's sister was visiting and called her husband into the kitchen and said look honey he loves his wife all of the kitchen knives are sharp. If you like easy and works this is it.
